No it is not fixed despite another 10hours of downloading and reinstalling.The whole process works fine as a download and set up should BUT the printer still tells me that the 1200 series printer drivers are not installed. Local Experts are baffled.

IT WILL BE FIXED JUST AS SOON AS I FIND THE BIG HAMMER!!

If the Lexmark software is not compatible with Vista, there is nothing you can do. Lexmark is telling you the the driver code does not play well with with the O/S.

Sometimes if you know of a comparable HP printer you can use that driver to talk to our printers but there may be some odd-problems that surface.


The best thing to do is to purchase a Lexmark printer that is compatible with Vista. It not uncommon for printer to be abandoned as the code grows more and more complex.

The only way to setup the printer without the proper drivers would be to use windows add new printer. However windows does not have lexmark x1270 listed. You can dlownload the software from lexmark & install the software / drivers without using the cd.
