I have a new Acer notebook with a built in web cam using CrytalEye. Do I need anything else to establish video conferencing? Do I use Messenger alone or in concert with Crystaleye?

Any software that supports webcam such as video calls, video conferencing, skype, yahoo messenger, etc..but before that make sure the driver for your webcam is properly installed. Operating System usually install default driver for that but just to be sure go to acer website search for the particular model in their support page
As I would suggest all the posters, please do mention the make and model of the computer that you are using. Here as you have posted under Sony Notebook, I think you own a VAIO, in VAIO, the computers are shipped with ArcSoft Web companion. Please click Start button and then in the search box, please type in ArcSoft Web companion, this will bring up the application. You can use the same to capture Videos and Pictures. For Video conferencing, you need use Skype, Yahoo Messenger or other video conferencing applications.
If any clarifications, please get back to me the exact model # of the computer.
I would assume this is a built in web-cam. Normally a web-cam software comes installed on your computer and all you need to do start the software and the web-cam will start. Or you may use this link to get a free web-cam software. http://www.eyespyfx.com/my_webcam_broadcaster.htm Note, if the web-cam is not a built in web-cam this will work a bit differently.
hi somisettiky, the laptop has a crystal eye icon on the desktop by default so you can take picture using it. if you have yahoo messenger, you can use that to as a webcam, same with skype or other video conferencing softwares.
guest, the crystal eye does not have a time delay shot be default, you may use a utility from acer to optimize the use of your mounted camera.
you can use windows movie maker to record a video its working on my xp but ihavent tried it on vista but you can use acer arcade delxeule it supports windows vista and xp you can find it on the cd which comes with your laptop if all this doesnt works run an acer e recovery
What do you want to use it for?
Do you want to post to the web, Take pictures and video to store on your computer?
Attach to e-mail?
What make and model of web cam do you have? what Computer and operating system are you using?
I need more information to help you.
i think you cant use the built in cam from your acer to used for video conferencing using logitect account. but you can disable the built in cam of your acer and install logitect to your acer to continue loging in you logitec account.
