I have the exact same problem, only bought mine yesterday, I can hear audio ok but the mic won't work and the sync button doesn't seem to do anything, have u had any luck since posting this?
You used the term "plug in my mic". I assume you mean the microsoft mic and head set. one of the best ways to check the headset and mic. is to go onto microsoft live and attempt to leave someonw a voice message. during the message you will get a message that says your mic is not working. also after you finish the voice message attempt to play if back if you do not hear anything then the problem is with your microsoft head set and attached mic. if new take if back to exchange for another one. there could possibly be something wrong with the port connection on you microsoft controller.
Are you muted? Check to make sure the mute button is not turned on. Also, check that the wire is firmly connected, as you might get, but not send sound. Check your settings in the dashboard as well in console settings, as it might be muted through there.
THE PROBLEN IS WITH YOUR MIC... I WOULD CONTACT MICROSOFT ABOUT THIS THEY WILL HAVE THE ANSWER. I HAVE FOUND THAT THE MICROSOFT HEAD SETS THAT COME WITH THE X BOX 360 ARE A PIECE OF JUNK AND DO NOT LAST LONG. I WOULD RECOMMED THAT YOU GET THE HORI X2 TURBO CONTROLLER. IT WILL DO EVERYTHING THAT THE FACTORY UNIT WILL DO PLUS YOU HAVE THE TURBO FUNCTION SPEED CONTROL AND MUCH MORE...
If your X3's microphone is working, you should be able to hear yourself in the headset when you talk into it. Plug the chat-controller cable in both the headset and the controller, then talk into the X31 mic. Can you hear yourself in the headset? If yes, then the microphone is OK but you probably need a new chat-controller cable. If not, then the microphone may be broken and you should contact Turtle Beach tech support at [email protected].
suspect that your microphone on your headset may be defective. try testing this headset on some other device such as a pc. to see if it works there. also ensure your 360 game or online is not set to mute this will block your mic if you need to kuss in private.
check there is no mic on off switch on the headset. if so set to on.
okay, this is obvious but first of all make sure this switch on your headset is not on mute. If alls good there go to your dashboard settings and you should see communication and make sure none of these are blocked. If this also isn't the problem it looks like you are going to need a new headset. It should have a years warrenty if that helps?
A few reasons for not being able to talk through the mic is that if parental settings are set. Parental settings can stop you from talking and, if set right, can stop you from hearing other people, which isn't the problem. It could also be that the mic on the headset is broken. If it is, you will have to buy a new one. Try using someone else's headset. If theirs works, then it confirms that it is only your headset. If it doesn't, it might mean that either your Xbox 360 remote isn't working right for voice, or parental settings are restricting you from that action.
Try sending yourself a message and see if you hit play (after recording the message) you can hear yourself. Sometimes Ive been playing games like GRAW2 online and when I lose connection with the host or something along those lines my mic will stop working untill I reset the console.
Also, most games will have some kind of an indicator when you are on Live that show when someone is talking. Do these indicators activate at all? (usually a small volume symbol that will light up next to the persons gamertag)
I can't talk through my headset
