I just bought a garmin edge 705 gps. Chg it and turned it on. Different languages came up. I wanted English and I thought I pushed the toggle for enter but another language has emerged and I don't know how to get it to format English.

Hard reset : To perform this one hold down the mode button while powering on your Edge, the Edge will ask you if you want to reset it, this should wipe clean the 705, all data will need to be imputed again.

Open unit disconnect battery and speaker wait 3-4 min Re connect battery while opened .This should reset and clear any faults. ..reassemble

To hard reset the unit turn the unit off, hold down the mode button and turn the unit on. When the unit asks if you want to erase all user data, select yes. After resetting the unit, leave it with a clear view of the sky for about 30 minutes to acquire the satellite almanac

Is it recognized when connecting to a PC? If not, try connecting whilst holding the stick in the 'up' position. If it is recognized, try copying all files to a folder on the PC, format the drive, and copy back.

When changing battery, accessories need to be paired again.

I have just bought a garmin nuvi 1300 and when turned it on the language is german or dutch. We need english but cannot figure out how to change to that seleciton. Help??

Cant solve it. Buying Garmin --- get used to it not turning on. Problem since the launch of the EDGE models. Still a problem.

the Garmin Edge series rely on GPS to track your location from point A to point B thereby calculating your speed and distance. Its no different from any other GPS unit which require a clear view of the sky. It does not sense wheel movement, so using any GPS on a trainer will show no movement and using it indoors will give you a bad signal. The sensor on the crank used on the Edge 705 is only for cadence and not speed.

Soft Reset: Mode + Lap. Then power on.
Hard Reset: Power On + Enter (down on thumbstick)

Hopefully this will fix your problem.
