The same 4 bulk inks

The bad news: Canon does not make any new printers that use those ink tanks. Their line of new consumer printers is the PIXMA series. None of these printers uses the BCI-3 series of ink tanks. I am sorry for the bad news,.. The good news: I have personally been successful in finding used, operational printers for $1 to $5 from local thrift stores and for a little more at local "Recycled, Used, Computer" type of stores. You may even try craigslist and put out a wanted ad for the models below,... anyway I hope this helps you out.
Here is a list of models that use all of the BCI-3e series of Black and Color tanks
Color Printers: i550, s400, s450, s500, s520, s530d s600, s630, s630 Network, s750, all BJC-3000 Series
Multifunction Printers: MultiPass F30, MultiPass F50, MultiPass F60,MultiPass F80
Other Color Printers (partially compatable) i560 & i860 (only uses the BCI-3 black tanks,..but BCI-6 for colors)

Canon BJC- 1000 LPT 1 printer. STATUS: the used ink tank is full. printer not performing.

HI,

Your printer has a built-in waste ink tank for the ink used during print head cleaning. As time goes by, the waste ink tank gradually fills. When the waste ink tank is nearly full, you should receive a "Waste ink warning" error when you print. Press the RESUME button on the printer to cancel the error so you can continue printing. Before the waste ink tank becomes completely full, have the waste ink tank replaced.

Printing, but not full words Canon i850

Sounds more like the actual print head has become dried out and simply needs to be cleaned. This is a common problem with Canon Bubble and Ink Jet printers.

You should be able to remove the cartridge and then the print head shuttle that moves across the page. Once you have it removed, you will need to get a couple of Q-tip swabs and some DENATURED ALCOHOL, NOT RUBBING ALCOHOL as the water in rubbing alcohol will damage the printer head. Wipe the face of the printer head GENTLY with a moistened swab, you should see the dried ink dissolve, do this a few times until you see no further ink on the swabs.

Allow it to dry for a few minutes and then reinstall it into the printer. You will need to run the alignment function of the printer to ensure that the print is aligned properly. That should do it.

Cheers,

Keith

Tank absorber full and lights blinking

The POWER Lamp Flashes Orange Eight flashes: Waste ink tank almost full
The printer has a built-in waste ink tank for the ink used during print head cleaning. Eight flashes indicates that the waste ink tank is nearly full. Press the RESUME/CANCEL button to cancel the error so you can continue printing. Before the waste ink tank becomes completely full, contact a Canon service representative.

Note
Canon recommends that you call for service as soon as this error occurs. Once the waste ink tank becomes completely full, printing will no longer be possible.

I850 canon printer blinks yellow 7 times wont print ,did the waste reset still no good is this a print head failure

You don't want to do a waste reset, ink will overflow everywhere.. but waste ink full is what the 7 blinks means. Resetting the waste ink is like adjusting your gas gauge and not putting gas in, not a good idea...

Canon i850 not printing

7 times means your waste ink absorber is full, time to let a shop replace the absorbers and reset the counter to clear the error.

Blank pages coming out of i850 with new printhead

Alarm / Power light flashes orange 7 times consecutively is a Print head error so it sounds like you did the right thing.

I would reseat the printhead along with each one of the ink cartridges. Make sure that you removed the tape from the bottom of each of the ink cartridges and try it again. After installing the new printhead, you should have run a printhead cleaning cycle immediately after installing.

Issue: Certain colors are missing or no ink prints on the paper
Solution: Install / replace the recommended ink tanks correctly i550 / i850

Untitled Document How to install / replace the ink tanks
The ink tanks suitable for the printer are as follows;

Black Ink Tank BCI-3eBK
Cyan Ink Tank BCI-3eC
Magenta Ink Tank BCI-3eM
Yellow Ink Tank BCI-3eY

Note: There are two ink tank label designs.
Operation procedures are shown with label design A.

labelsa.jpg Replacement Procedure

1. Check that the printer is powered on, and open the front cover. Wait until the print head moves to the center.

2. Remove the empty ink tank by pushing the tab on the ink tank.

Note: When doing this, do not remove the print head. When replacing multiple ink tanks, it is recommended to replace one at a time to avoid inserting them into the wrong slots.
(The image is an example using i850.)

3. Remove the new ink tank from its package. Pull the orange tape in the direction of the arrow to remove it completely, and remove the shrink-wrap film.

Note: Remove the orange tape completely. If the tape remains, printing may not be performed properly.

Confirm that the orange tape is completely removed from the ink tank, as shown in image 1. If the tape is similar to the sample in image 2, remove the remaining portion of the tape so that it looks like the sample shown in image 1.

(1): Correct

(2): Incorrect (where the arrow indicates)
4. Slowly twist the orange protective cap in the direction that the arrow indicates, and remove it. To avoid ink adhering to your fingers, brace the orange protective cap while removing it.

5. Insert the new ink tank to the print head by holding it at a slight angle.

Note: Confirm that the ink tanks are installed in the right order according to the labels on the print head.

6. Press down on the top of the ink tank until a click sound is made.

7. Close the front cover. The next time the printer performs printing, it will automatically start print head cleaning. The power lamp will flash while cleaning is performed. Until cleaning completes, do not perform other operations.

Canon i850 lid over ink cartridges will not close

It sounds like your print head may have dislodged and not be in the correct position, remove the ink cartridges and raise the gray locking handle completely, then lift out the print head and remove it completely ( its the tray inside the slider tray that has the nozzles for the ink tanks ) then reinstall, there should be a slight click when its in the correct postion, reinstall your ink tanks.
