I am having the same problem, windows movie maker not detecting my panasonic nv-gs27. It did work on my old lappy, but doesn't with windows vista

  • tassie711 Mar 21, 2008

My panasonic nv-gs27 is not detected by Win Movie maker running vista. It works with no problems on a computer running win XP Pro.

    It's obviously a Vista Problem.

Unable to transfer video information onto PC ACER ASPIRE using windows Vista for editing by windows movie maker. Interface on PC is via USB. If software driver for firewire or 1394 interface is available...

If you want to use the USB cable to connect the Camcorder to the Computer to transfer the video to the Computer then:

(Applicable for Vista Operating System Only.)

This Camcorder does not support USB streaming with the VISTA Operating System. Use an i.LINK cable to transfer the video to the Computer. The i.LINK port is also called IEEE 1394 or Firewire port. (An i.LINK is a black D shaped connector with 4 or 6 pins. The type of cable to be used will depend on the i.LINK port of your Computer. The Sony Camcorder will have the 4 pin i.LINK cable and if the computer has the 6 pin i.LINK port, then you may have to use the 4 pin to 6 pin i.LINK Cable).

You can use any video capturing software like Windows Movie Maker to transfer the video from the Camcorder to the Computer.

Refer this Link for the instruction to transfer the video to the Computer using i.LINK cable.

NOTE: As the Camcorder does not support USB streaming with Vista, it is not required to use any Sony Device Driver to transfer the video to the Computer. You do not require any Drivers or Software from Sony to transfer the video from the Camcorder to the Computer using the i.LINK/Firewire interface.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't transfer videos from JVC GZ MG575AA to my windows XP

I had the same problem, try downloading a file converter such as "prism File Converter" to change your MOD files to JPEG and then import in Windows Movie maker

We cannot connect the camcorder to our PC, we have followed instructions and reinstalled several times, but our PC does not recognise the camcorder!

if it's tape model must use firewire cable-no usb for video transfer-camcorder has dv port which is 4 pin and laptop has 4 pins and desktop and mac 6 pin-use movie maker program in windows xp or vista
