Hoover steamvac clean surge turbo power 5200 attachment problems

I do not have a manual and want to use the upholstery attachment. I can't figure out where all parts to the attachment goes and what makes it work. There is a thing that says install in tank, but I have no clue where that fits. And when turned on water comes out of the attachment but the brushes do not spin/work. Are there any suggestions, please help. Thank you

That part to install in tank, is at the end of your hose. Take the lide off of the dirty water tank, on the front of the tank, there is a block that will slide out, then you can insert that part in its place. You have to have suction to make the brushes spin, so you just need to put the block on the end of the hose in the slot on the front of the tank. When down however, put that block you took out back, or your cleaner won't work right.

Http://www.hoover.com/product.aspx?model=F5914900&ds=false if you go to this website they will have the manual for you good luck otherwise in the front of the dirt tank you will see a clear plastic piece it moves slide that out then slide your attachment hose in that spot facing up when you replace the lid of the dirt tank it will cover that and then therefore clean what needs cleaning after you turn it back on that is lol

My cleaning tool will not go all the way down to the connector of the vacuum. Do you have a solution for this problem?

  • jorge_a_l Sep 03, 2011

The slot in the attachment faces up not down. I think you are trying to push it down to the slot coming from the floor. Turn it around. and it would fit the slot in the tank.

No suction for upholstery hose

http://www.hoover.com/pdfs/manuals/F5914900.pdf try priming your hose

Before using tool
It may be necessary to remove air from
the system (“prime the pump”) so the
clean solution will flow to the tool. Follow
these steps:
1. Attach tool to hose and turn the carpet
cleaner ON.
2. Put the tool on a hard surface or
against your hand to block off the suction.
3. Wait a few seconds (can take up to
15 seconds). Then squeeze the trigger
and begin cleaning.
Follow the instructions on pages 14 and
15 for the appropriate cleaning task.

I can not seem to get the attachment for the upholstery cleaner to operate what am i doing wrong????

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
The attachment works on the suction from the Hoover Steam Vac and it’s either a straight suction tool or a revolving brush, check the front of the machine to see if the is a switch to turn on and odd, also before you attach the upholstery tool check the end of the hose for suction, it may be that your upholstery tool may be clogged or the brushes are not spinning and a part may be broken. Feel free to check with you local vac dealer or a new or a good used part if you find out what is wrong. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Hoover turbo vac 5200

Pull out the brush block, do the brushes turn freely and is the shaft that goes uo into the turbine there or did it break off. If the brush block is ok, then the turbine is probably bad and will need to be replaced.
