I can't see the dvds into any dvd player

No DVD player accept my minis dvd's. Is that a problem with the camera o the dvd's.

  • Flutterby101 Jan 03, 2008

The model number for my camcorder is VP-DC171i, I can't seem to find the model anywhere on your website or on the internet, looking at the image, this seems to be the closest to the one I have. I do have the same problem as Lizannette, I can't play my dvd's from either my PC or DVD player, they either don't recognize the disk or recognize it as a blank CD. I have tried downloading programs to play the dvd but nothing seems to be working, please help!!!

Most DVD players can't play DVD-R or DVD-RW unless it's finalized (if you record to DVD+RW, it may work ok, but fewer DVD players work right with RW format discs).

Obviously, you need to ensure you are actually writing to the DVD (eg, will they play back on the camcorder). You should see if there's a menu for finalizing the DVDs, that might do it. There are occasionally problems with finalizing discs on some of these DVD camcorders... these discs may not be readable on any DVD player, but might still work in a PC.

The other problem is that some camcoders record in DVD-VR format, which is a special "easily edited" format for DVD camcorders only... regular DVD players don't usually support this (well, some new ones might... this is one of those "evolving standard" issues). You'll probably need a PC to read the disc, edit, convert to a conventional DVD, etc. if you're using this format.

How to watch commercial DVDs on your wide screen TV via WD TV Mini Media Player

WD TV Mini Media Player provides an easy and affordable way to play back your digital media on your wide screen TV.  It serves as a conduit between your TV set and USB drive storage, no matter it is a camcorder, a humble flash drive, or an external HDD. Simply connect WD TV Mini to your TV, plug a USB-connected storage into the player and you are ready to enjoy all your digital media in DVD quality playback.
WD TV Mini Media Player supported media formats:
Videos:
AVI (Xvid, AVC, MPEG4), MPG/MPEG, VOB/ISO, MP4/MOV (MPEG4), RM or RMVB 8/9/10
Audios:
MP3, WAV/PCM/LPCM, WMA, AAC, FLAC, MKA, OGG, APE
From the above list we can see that VOB is a playable format for WD TV Mini Media Player, does it mean that WD TV Mini can play all kinds of DVDs – whether home made DVDs or commercial DVDs? The answer is WD TV can not decrypt copy protected commercial DVDs, so you have to rip them. This tutorial aims to show you how to make it possible for you to watch commercial DVDs on your wide screen TV via WD TV Mini Media Player. What you will need is Pavtube DVD Ripper, it not only rips, but it encodes too. Following is the detailed operating steps:

Step 1: Click "DVD Rom", "DVD Folder" or "IFO/ISO" to load DVD files into this program.

Step 2: Select subtitle and audio track
Click on the pull down menu of "Subtitle" and "Audio" respectively to select your needed subtitle and audio language.
Step 3: Select output format for WD TV Mini Media Player
Click on the drop-down list at the end of "Format" to choose an output format for WD TV Mini Media Player. Your selection should be in the range of AVI (Xvid, AVC, MPEG4), MPG/MPEG, VOB/ISO, MP4/MOV (MPEG4), RM or RMVB 8/9/10. Here I select "Xvid AVI" as an example:

Step 4: Click "Settings" button to adjust video and audio parameters
The user manual tells us that when playback .avi (Xvid) video files, WD TV Mini supports up to 720*576 30fps or 720*480 30fps, so we need to follow the manual while ripping a DVD.

Step 5: Click "Convert" button to start DVD ripping
Once finished, you can get the generated files for WD TV Mini via clicking on "Open" button with ease. Afterwards, just copy the output files to My Passport portable hard drive or other USB drive, and then connect WD TV Mini to your TV, plug your USB drive into the player and you are ready to enjoy the movies ripped from your commercial DVDs.

I have an Hitachi with mini dvds. They play back on the camera but not on the computer. HELP!

First find the format of the video.

Insert the video cd to the computer and right click the video file and the click the properties menu, watch the file type(i.e: .flv , .avi ,.wmv)

Basically the hitachi saves in mpeg2 or mpeg4 type.

Use the GOM player to play the video Or there are many more players available to play that video.

I want to play mini cds in a standard slot drive in laptop.

You should notice in your cd tray a smaller cutout in the center. That is specifically for mini cds.

Watching a dvd on a regular dvd player

Once you have "Finalised" your mini disk in your camera try playing it in your PC drive - it should work. The ability to play on a regular size DVD player depends on how modern your player is. Not all players accept DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD +-RW formats. Good luck.

Burning video from Sony Handycam DCR-DVD105?

i dont think that you can keep the menus from each mini dvd. but you can create your own dvd video with menu and at the same time you can merge all of your mini dvds. After you upload the mini dvd videos to your computer then use Nero 8 or 9 Software. On Nero look for dvd editable and browse your dvd videos then do as the instructions says to you. you should burn that with one DVD disc with menus of your own choice

cheers
