I have the same problem I try to turn on the palm but it wont even start. I tried to disconnect the battery and try to reboot but that doesn't work I tried the soft reset and the hard reset but it wont let me do either and it just shuts down. I also tried to disconnect the harddrive and reattach it but it does have the same problem. Please if anyone knows what I can do to repair this problem please let me know. Thanks in advance

password for your handheld.
Once the password has been set, remove the stylus. Disconnect
your handheld from the AC charger, if connected.

While holding down the Power button, use the stylus to press
the RESET button on the back of your handheld.

Palm logo and a progress bar. Then the circular Palm Powered logo will
appear. Release the power button when you see the Palm Powered logo. Keep holding the Power button
during this screen. When you see this screen, you
can release the Power button.
A message will appear warning that you are about to erase all
the data stored on your smartphone. Press UP.

If your data from your handset has been syncronized recently, try a hard reset. NOTE: Just be aware that your handset data may be deleted:
Press and hold the power button.
While holding the power button, use the tip of the stylus (or a
similar object without a sharp tip) to gently press and release the reset
button inside the hole on the back of your handheld.
Wait for the Palm Powered™ logo to appear, and then release the
power button.
When you see the message that warns you about erasing all of
the info on your handheld, do one of the following: • Press Up on the 5-way
navigator to finish the reset and show the touchscreen. • Press any other
button to do a soft reset.
When prompted, tap to align the screen, and then select the
language you want to use on your handheld. A screen appears showing the Palm

Do a hard reset. Hold the on/off button while simultaneously pushing reset button on back. Keep on/off button pushed until Palm Powered screen appears. This erases all data and gives language options.
When performing a hard reset on the Palm Centro, you hold down the power button as you insert the battery, and then release the power button when you see the second Palm logo. http://www.palm.com/us/support/downloads/centroupdate/pop_centrohardreset.html
Just had to do a hard reset myself and it's not straight forward! While holding down the power button, BRIEFLY press the reset button on the back of the palm. DO NOT RELEASE the POWER button until you see the GRAY screen with the Palm logo (not the first screen with the palm logo). That should start the hard reset for you.
