The unit sprays for the first few seconds after I turn the unit on and then stops spraying any water or solution. I turn it off, wait a few minutes and the same thing happens. What is going on and how can I get it to work properly?

There are a number of reasons why your unit doesn't spray water. It could be that the !) water tank is empty which you can fill heavy duty bladder with hot tap water. 2) If Formula tank is empty, you can fill it with Bissell 2x formula for cleaning. 3) If tank may not be seated properly, turn the power off, remove and reseat the tank. 4) If pump may have lost prime, try to turn off and then turn on the unit, wait for one minute and depress trigger. Turn off and unplug unit. Remove both tanks. Fill Solution tank and install it. Fill Heat Tank and install it. Plug unit in and turn on, wait one minute and engage sprayer till spraying. Stop sprayer. Consumer Care # 1-800-237-7691 for further assistance.

Your Bissell ProHeat 25A3 may have stopped spraying water for several reasons. Make sure the bladder or water tank of your unit is filled with water properly and that the 2-in-1 tank has been placed properly.

If the water tank/bladder is filled and the 2-in-1 tank is placed properly, your unit's pump may have lost prime, to check this turn your unit's power off and hold spray trigger for 30 seconds. Turn the machine back on and check the spray flow.

Another thing that may not be allowing your unit to spray properly or spray at all is having a clogged solution filter and may need to be cleaned.

Last, your unit's pump belt may be broken. To replace, turn off your unit and unplug from any electrical outlet. Use a flat head screwdriver into the slot of the belt access door to release where you should have access to your unit's pump belt.

Hi Tom. It sounds like your ProHeat may have lost prime. I understand you've done some troubleshooting, but we have a terrific FAQ that will help you with the no spray.

Check to ensure there is liquid in the water tank and the formula bottle.

Note: This machine will spray with liquid in the Water tank only if the machine is set to the Water Rinse setting. On any other setting, you need to have liquid in the formula tank as well.

If no: add liquid to the Water tank and the Formula tank.
If yes: check each of the following....

- Check the bottom of the Water Tank and the Formula Tank to make sure each has a red auto-load gasket attached. Make sure the Water Tank and the Formula Tank are seated properly.
- Ensure the tank lid is properly attached to the bottom of the tank. To attach this properly, remove the Water Tank from the machine. Hook the front window onto the lip of the bottom container and then allow the window with lid to cover the complete tank. Secure the latch on the back of the bottom tank to the back of the tank lid. THE TANK LID CANNOT BE ATTACHED PROPERLY IF THE BOTTOM TANK IS ALREADY INSTALLED IN THE MACHINE.
-If everything is seated and attached properly, prime the machine by turning off the power, waiting one minute, and then turning the power back on and depressing the trigger on the handle.
- If priming the unit fails to fix the problem, remove the handle completely and re-attach. Once the handle is re-attached, re-attempt to spray.
If the machine continues to not spray, check the following:

REMOVE THE COLLECTION TANK:
• Make sure the unit is set to water rinse
• Remove the smart mix bottle and fill it with water only
• Place the smart mix bottle into the collection tank reservoir
• Run the unit and try to spray. If the machine sprays, you will be able to see the water level decreasing in the smart mix bottle and you will need to replace the bottom tank. It is possibly warped.

Here is what to do

When was the last time you changed the flat belt? Even if it isn't broken it could be so stretched out that when the brush hits the floor it slows or stops the pump from spraying. If its a new belt then and your sure there arent any clog's that usually means the pump is bad. Also if youve ever used anything other than bissell shampoo in the machine it could have ruined the pump as well.
