Re: Electric start turns over, but engine doesn't start....
If gas has been sitting in the carburetor since last season, The carburetor will need to be cleaned out and rebuilt. Some ports may be clogged up that allow gas to flow. HTH Good Day.

Your problem would be in a safety shutdown switch.
some Ariens blowers have a two handed safety switch whitch is located on back of blower right lower side (inside of body)
You have to remove 4 transmission pan bolts to see it.
The other location is under the metal face plate between the handle bars.
Some of them have a third handel on right side of handle bars that has to be depressed to run auger .
first check shear pins in the auger ( try to turn big auger by hand, engine off)
then if they are good then try to turn impeller by hand, engine off
youll need to turn it a few times before the larger ones turn, but thats what you want
if they dont turn then you have sheared the gear box gears
be sure belts are good tooo
Looks to me like your second stage is not working. If the auger is turning fine, look and see if the secondary thrower is turning. Probably a shear bold on one or the other is broken. Easy fix, but do not put your hands in there when the machine is running!
Hello. Actually, Many snow thrower manufacturers now recommend using synthetic motor oil particularly for subzero temperatures. Synthetic oil, such as Mobil 1 doesn’t contain any of the waxes that cause conventional oils to congeal in cold temperatures. As a result, synthetic oil makes starting easier and also prevent parts from running dry when a cold engine first starts. Synthetic oil also has higher film strength and stands up to high temperatures better than conventional oils. You’ll pay more for a quart for a full synthetic and you still have to change it as often as conventional oils, but you are giving your snow thrower engine the best chance for a long trouble free life.
