The reset switch is located in the top of the heater coil assembly on the first thermal relay. Simple remove the screws holding the expanded metal grate and two crews holding the heater kit. It will then slide straight up and out of unit.

I have a Amana PTAC Model PTH153A50AC with the DigiSmart upgrade kit (DSUK01B) which as of last night stoped generating heat. I tried the Diagnostic and got a "LF" displayed. But I find no reference to what LF means. HELP please. Also I looked but can't find a reset button either.

My AMANA PTAC unit model # PTH093b35ae is not producing heat. My air conditioner works fine. So, I get cold air. However, when I switch to heat, it still runs but does not produce any heat.

It is not switching from cooling into heating. You probably need to have a service tech look at the unit. Sorry. It could be control board or stuck reversing valve.

My amana ptac is not heating....the code "np" is displayed....how do I correct this...we just installed the unit and know little about operation. Thanks

I don't see this error code in the manual. I do see nP as an error code for Window Switch lockout. I just had this happen to me and they had me reset the control board.

Remove case, flick master switch to OFF for 10 seconds. Press Heat/Cool same time turn switch back on HOLD until off light comes on.

You should be fixed. Just had to do this for my unit. I was playing around with the settings and turned on the window switch option by accident.

I have an Amana ptac hotel type thru the wall unit. The unit won't turn on - it's plugged in. The gfi button is popped out. There is power to the wall plug. Any ideas?

Hi,
If you reset the GFCI button and then when you go to turn it on the button pops again, then you have a short inside the units probably in the fan motor or the compressor..

I have a AMANA PTh153B50AE (PTAC unit). The air conditioner works fine. It is when I turn on my heater and it does not get warm. It just blows cold air. I have looked at the board and it appears that...

I have the same problem, and I found the manual reset inside the unit. Turn the power off, and unplug the unit. Remove the outer cover of the unit ( inside cover ) , and remove the 2 screws holding the " wire mesh " in the front of the cover. Pull the wire mesh up and out of the way, then carefully pull out the heating element.
On the heating element, where the wires are connected, there is a manual reset button... Push the button in, till it resets...

My reset was on the upper left connection of the wires... just looks like a small push button, but the reset is recessed a bit.
Replace all covers and plug back in.. working fine..

Amana PTAC PTC093A35AA won't blow heat

The reset button is located behing a panel on the front of the unit that is labeled Heat Reset. If that label is gone then look around, it is a small hole, small enough for a paper clip to fit through.
That being said, I have 137 of these units in one of my hotels and have not had a single one needing to be reset. You probably are going to need a new control board kit. These can be purchased from Amana. They are $130. Make sure that you have pulled the heater coil out and inspected it first. Also, there was a recall years ago where Amana was supposed to contact and send out new voltage switches. These are the round black things that the Brown heater wires connect to on the upper and lower side of the heating coil. You should also try to replace those if you find the coil in good condition. I have had those resolve heating issues. Most of the heating issues were a result of a bad relay on the control board though.
Please remember to rate this fix.

Amana PTAC

I know this is late but I had to add a solution to this problem since I had the exact same problem and was able to solve it. The probelm is not your control board. On these units, the heat pump compressor will not kick in unless the temperature you set on the control panel is within 2-1/4 degrees (or 4 degrees depending on your unit model. Otherwise, the unit locks out the compressor until the electric heat coil bring the indoor temperature up to that level - and then will switch the compressor back on for heat pump operation. So the problem is not the control panel or the compressor, it the electric heat coil. The coil has two manual limit switches on it that may be tripped and should be checked. The coil can be easily accessed by shutting down the power, removing 4 screws around the air outlet, pushing the screen up and sliding the panel out the top. The power wires can remain in place while the limit switches are reset. Hope it works.

Amana PTAC

Sounds like if this is a heat pump, maybe it tripped out on high pressure. Maybe just unplugging the system may reset the control boards. This maybe due to a dirty filter or dirty evaporator coil.
