Sounds as though you have a filter capacitor bad in the power supply. I strongly suggest you have it checked and repaired soon, before it burns up a transistor or regulator. The cost may be a bit high now, but will escalate to possibly a complete power supply board. If you can repair your own set, check the main power supply filter capacitors. Good luck. You will need to trouble shoot the start up and shutdown circuits. Often this is a minor component failing causing the set to not power up or go into protective shutdown. Do you have the service manual for this TV?
