My Toshiba Cinema Series tv went out today. After the unit was on for 10 minutes, it went partially black screen with horizontal lines on the top and bottom. I turned it off, back on with only the power button on. Turned off and back on, picture came in fine, then went back to blank screen. The red light next to the power button is on when I turn on the tv but now no picture or sound. Can anyone help me resolve this problem? Is there a way I can repair myself?

Sounds as though you have a filter capacitor bad in the power supply. I strongly suggest you have it checked and repaired soon, before it burns up a transistor or regulator. The cost may be a bit high now, but will escalate to possibly a complete power supply board. If you can repair your own set, check the main power supply filter capacitors. Good luck. You will need to trouble shoot the start up and shutdown circuits. Often this is a minor component failing causing the set to not power up or go into protective shutdown. Do you have the service manual for this TV?
