TV does not not turn on

After pressing the power butten, the power light flickers green for about 2 minutes and then the TV goes back to stand by. I have unplugged the TV for over 2 hours, plugged it back in and it still does not turn on. Any suggestions? It is no longer under warranty.

Guess I'm not the only one. When I try to turn mine on, the red "standby" light goes out as usual, and the green "power on" starts to blink steadily. Then it blinks faster and faster until it goes out and the standby light comes back on. It sure seems like that is some kind of diagnostic "code" that would mean something to someone who knows this stuff - does that "symptom" point to a certain component? Are there actual fuses inside this thing that I can check? Has anybody actually fixed the problem by simply changing a fuse? Thanks so much for the help - dang thing is barely out of warranty (of course!). And thanks to Sylania for their help - NOT!!!

Same exact problem, except mine is a 37 inch. Sent two emails to Syvania and never received a reply. The phone call to their "customer Service" was a total waste...they just said take it to a repair shop.

Sylvania 32" model 6632, won't turn on. hit power on button and the "Green LED blinks for 1-2 seconds than back to the "Red" standby LED. This happened a couple of months after warranty expired.

It's been sitting on the shelf for six months now. I've never had a TV that crapped out so quickly. It was a bedroom TV and was only on about 3 hours per day. This was the first Sylvania TV I ever bought and very likely the last. One shop I called says it's a cheap TV that uses Cheap P C boards. Says it's likely an inexpensive board but won't know until he gets into it. Lets see, pay another $100.00 - $200.00 to get a working TV for 13 more months. Anybody know a quick fix.

These flat panel tv's all have a problem with bad leaky capacitors. look for any capacitors ( round cylinder shape with a metal top) that have the top rounded over (bulged up) that part would be bad.

Only thing i could suggest is removing back cover and check to see if any fuses are blown.

My magnavox hdtv won't turn on no green or red light on the power butten no power at all

Start with the obvious. Is your TV plugged in? If it is on a power strip, does the strip need reset? If all is normal there, then unplug the set and take the back off. Check your fuse to see if it is blown.

Tv want go on

This model is equipped with a self-diagnosis feature to help with diagnosis of shutdown problems. To activate this turn the unit on let it shutdown then press the input/device and menu buttons on the front panel simultaneously and hold them in for 5 seconds after 5 seconds the power LED on the front panel will blink a two digit sequence. This will be one set of blinks a short pause then another set of blinks, this will repeat 5 times. 1 - 2 = no error detected 2 - 1 = X-ray protect (high voltage or beam current) 2 - 2 = Short protect (short protect monitors low voltage supplies) 2 - 3 = Deflection protect (this could be loss of vertical or horizontal deflection) 2 - 4 = Vertical protect (usually loss of vertical from the source)
