See if you can get the latest software on the HP website this should fix the problem. If you are not sure how to do that let me know your version of windows and i'll find it for you. Or just goto here and select your windows version and download. How do i switch of align page when installing a new cartridge as it waste paper printing a test page everytime you switch it on. This is for a HP 1300 series

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SupportTaskIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=238320&taskId=110

Click on the 'Automatically check to see if your driver needs updating (MS Windows Only).' box in order to check for latest updates to your driver.

Unfortunately, I looked over the unexpected page output and it didn't list this problem as one of them.

Does it really print a test page every time you switch it on? Or does it only print a test page after installing a new cartridge?

Definitely, the alignment page should be printed everytime a new cartridge is installed due to variations in manufacturing of print cartridges will throw off the alignment everytime a new cartridge is installed.

I'm not sure about the test page, though.

Good luck on this modification of standard operating of hp printers.

Everytime I turn my HP PhotosmartC3180 on, it prints a test page.

I think probably it's a print alignment page, if you read the page it will probably give you instructions to place the page on to the scanner at the top and press a button for it to scan and automatically set the alignment. Do so and it should fix it :)

It automatically print a page everytime I start my hp psc 1315

Hi Siddarth

In HP PSC 1315 printer after replacing new Ink Cartridges the printer always prints Alignment test page every time you turn it ON.To resolve this problem you must complete the alignment process.

Steps

1.Turn the printer ON.
2.Once its ON, it will print the Alignment page. Place the page in the scanner bed correctly.
3.Then Press START SCAN button.
4.The power light will start blinking, wait until the power lights turns solid.
5.Now Alignment process is over.Discard the paper from scanner.
6.Turn the printer OFF and then ON, it will not print that page again.

Note:Please follow this steps every time when you replace the Cartridges.

Thanks

Automatically prints

Print the test page and place it into the scanner, remember to place the paper in the correct direction. Then press the start scan button on the printer. Let the scanner do the scan and if it is successful, the printer is ready for use. If it failed, then the orange led for check paper will flash slowly. If every thing is done in the correct sequence but get failed from time to time, then you may need to get the scanned image of the test page to see what the scanner is seeing.
