Switch on then before screen comes on it switch it self off

I see so many here with no sound/nopicture issues:

ISSUES:

1. IF sound main fuse/s are good.
2. If no power or standby check main fuse, standby power supply and any signsof damage you can see---burnt parts etc.
3. almost all these sets the troubleshooting involves checking voltages on the main power board to narrow down theproblem.
4. Be safe and if you do not know what you are doing don't open the set.

Answers to issues:

1. RE:fuses---if a blown fuse is found get a good replacement(not the genericones like Radio Shack). Many fuses are special even aside from amperage--Don'tput a higher rated amperage fuse in the set for any reason.

2. RE: power supply in set: if total dead aside from main fuse the set uses astandby power supply that runs 7/24 and a main supply (some are combined andsome not.

Here aside from checking fuses you want to examine all the filter caps on thepower/standby to see if any are puffed up or buldged up in some fashion--Iattach a photo of a good one---top should be silver metal and PERFECTLY flatand have no brown material coming out on top or bottom.

What happens in the standby area is they use caps with too low a voltage rating(saves money) which causes them to fail in a year or two---the standby runs7/24 and the heat dries out the caps and they fail.

3. Trouble shooting consists of the above and then at some point you have to buyand try a board to see if it fixes it or not.

4. Safety first--no TV set is worth getting injured or even killed over.If set is opened at least look for puffed up and bad caps like in thisphoto.6_12_2012_1_48_14_pm.jpg6_12_2012_1_48_37_pm.jpg

Look for puffed up caps like these in the power supply board.

All this info is just someplace to start and may or may not resolve the problem--it is where to begin.

I have a sharp aquos lc-c4677un its not turning on at all now. When I push the power botton on the tv, the power light turns on and about 2-3sec the power and opc light start to blink and thats about it.

How are the power and opc lights blinking? Do they blink simultaneously or does one blink then the other? How many time do they blink per second? Also have you had it fixed yet? and if so what was done? I had a similar problem with my set.

I purchased a JVC LT52X579 March 30/09. The TV would phase out by itself and then restart by itself. Some times it would remain on and could be cut off only by unplugging it from my sudge protection...

Hi,
Please unplug TV from wall socket for couple of minutes, replug back in and turn ON.
If still does not power up, try it in another wall socket.
Also check standby/ power light flashing or its solid at TV.
If standby light is flashing or its not lit then TV got power supply problem and requires qualified TV tech. I hope TV is still under warranty so ask for warranty cover to store.
Thanks.

Aiwa z-l700 won't switch on?

1. Verify you really have power at the outlet. If so...
2. You will need to open up the main boby of the device (amp portion).
3. On the circuit board where the power plug comes in, you need to look for a fuse or fuses. Do you know how to check these? This is most likely the problem. Good Luck!

FUSE SPEC FOR SONY KV-36FV16

The rear panel nameplate will state the unit power requirements. Look for number of amps draw. Let's say you read "2 A". Now, depending on where in the circuit this fuse is, your fuse size will be no more than two amperes (sometimes slightly greater if slow-blow fuse spec'ed). So, if your fuse is located immediately near the line-cord entrance to circuit board, start with a 1.0A fuse. If that immediately blows, then increase to a 1.5A fuse. Repeat until 2 A fuse is reached. If still blowing, then there is a problem with the set, either power supply or tube.
