Speaker sound will only come out of center speakers. The rear and front speakers do not have any sound

first is of course make sure hookup is still ok and then I would have the speakers checked (not likely) and last means a failure in the receiver itself--most shops for a fee will inspect it and give you an estimate.

Got button happy on cable remote and now can't get sound back coming through the stereo receiver OR the TV internal speakers. Have been trying to get sound back for hours w/o success. Can you help? ...

Somewhere here you changed the input on your TV and or Pioneer. The TV audio output should be on the input of your Pioneer. Make sure that you change the input selection on the Pioneer to match where you have your audio input on the back of your Pioneer. So many of these devices have multiple inputs and outputs. They should be labeled on the back. Once you find that out you should then go to your remote and select the proper audio input from the menu. Let me know if that helps and we can try a couple other things. Also make sure your TV output from the tv is on to send it to the stereo unit.

I have a pioneer usx-405 reciever for a PDf407. It used to work just fine but recently whenever I power it on in keeps flashing "muting". I looked it up online and a forum said I need a remote...

You mean Vsx 405, right? Model numbers are senseless enough without typos.

Are you saying you DON'T have a remote? How did you ever set it up? There are several CU-VSX105 remotes available on eBay, one at $9.99 and expiring in a few minutes (17:12 PDT). If you get this in time you could snipe it at the last 10 seconds.

Many a Pioneer receiver will come up MUTING if it powered down Muting. It's not clear if you have been experiencing unwanted shut-downs. Unwanted Muting or any other command could well originate with an unintended remote control source. Mask the receiver so it can't see other I/R sources.

Why does my pioneer vsx-d557 automatically go into MUTING WHEN I turn it on?

Maybe you have MUTING selected. Turn the volume knob up or toggle the Mute control on the remote.

If it defaults to muting on power up find the manual and search it for a default volume setting.
