Hey i've been having the exact same problems with avg listed on the board, and i've found no solutions. EVERY TIME i attempt to install avg free version (since about 2 years ago), the installation would progress to about %98 and then fail. The installation progress bar would then be reversed and go the opposite direction, and then provide an error description (which i do not have with me at this time). Does this error sound familliar, or is it too vague?

A fix is to use AVG free found here: http://www.filehippo.com/download_avg_antivirus_32/ Until you locate your disk/product code.

To remove the infections from your PC u have to install an anti virus. The best anti virus i recommend is AVG 9. The latest version of AVG is 9. so u have to search it and install on ur PC. its free of cost just u have to download it and its easily availible on different sites. After downloading install it on your PC. when it 'll be installed open it there is option of residential shield in it. if it is not active, active it after it click on scan computer, it 'll take some time and 'll scan your whole PC. in the end of scanning click on remove all the infections and 'll remove all the infections and viruses of your PC.

open services.msc from run window and then find avgwdsvc.exe. right click and select properties then check the disabled checkbox. Apply and get out of services.msc. now try to install the new version of avg.

hi..still you might not have deleted some of the
folders,that's why you are not able to install it.
uninstall it completely.

Sounds like you did not do things in the correct order or you did not reboot between the AVG uninstall and the Kapersky install, so that it looked like AVG was still loaded.

Since Kapersky is not installed, the best way to proceed is to start from a fresh reboot, download and re-install the AVG free edition to get the registry entries corrected. Don't bother with updates as it is coming back out again. Reboot and uninstall AVG. Reboot again and verify AVG is gone before attempting to install the Kapersky.

AVG free can be downloaded from free.grisoft.com assuming you mean the 8.0 version, not 7.5, otherwise try downloading from www.filehippo.com and select the older version.

Are you certain that you couldn't just click 'continue' and have it install correctly (despite posting that error)? Which OS were you trying to install in, anyhow? Perhaps you can installed AVG Free or Moon Secure with some success, and be satisfied with that at first?

Error 0x800736b1 AVG - resolved by START-RUN-services.msc - WINDOWS INSTALLER -make it automatic and start it.

Well there are some things that might help you with this...  

1. first you need to figyer out weather you have a Hardware, or Software problem.

Here are some ideas...

• Go to http://www.iobit.com/advancedwindowscareper.html?Str=download for a free scanner. I use it all the time!  When you download it and install it, open it and let it scan... this will find ANY problems on your computer!!!

• if this dosn't help then go to http://free.grisoft.com/ww.download-avg-anti-virus-free-edition#tba2 and download the AVG Free.  when it is done installing let it scan your computer (may take about 1-2 hrs)

• if this does not help and you have no warranty, then I would just sell it somewhere like ebay...

and get a newer one :)
