They sometimes get frosted up and don't want to work the motor properly...if you can get the face of it off, take a hair dryer and heat it up until the frost melts off...don't spin the fan motor if you have one on that unit. Then put it bad on and see if that will help if it doesn't you may have to replace the whole unit. They run around $190 if you do it yourself...not too hard of a job.

Ice maker is slow to make ice. It dumps sometimes. it builds a large mountain of forzen ice that mounds up under the tray. even though we remove it it always comes back. ice is also runnig down the...

Ice maker problems are almost always a problem. Sometimes I will locate an issue and fix it and then it will work for a short period and then break again. So, now I just replace the ice maker as a general rule. This is much more likely for success. However, the replacement ice maker is often not an exact match. And again, the this and the that sometimes causes problems. I will never accept a new customer on the grounds that I am going to fix their home ice maker. Make sure the ice machine is getter water like it is supposed to. Check the filter and the tubes. If the problem persists, get a new ice maker. If that ice maker angers you, get some ice cube trays.

Ice maker stopped working

When the ice bin fills up, it won't let the arm all the way down. The arm must go down for more ice to drop into bin. Sometimes an ice cube or two will get caught under the arm and prevent it from cycling. Continuing to use the ice maker will empty bin but no new ice is made. Clear any ice cubes from under the arm and the cycle will start again. My ice maker takes about twelve hours to fill after it has been emptied but ice from the door is available almost imediately.

The Ice maker has stopped working.

There are usually 2 small solenoid valves that are used to control water. Both are generally installed at the rear close to the bottom of the fridge. One of the solenoids controls the water flow for drinks and the other is to control water flow to the ice maker. You can determine which is which by tracing the water supply tubes from the freezer compartment to the solenoid or by process of elimination. The latter method requires that you feel for movement (clicking) or heat on the water dispenser solenoid while someone starts to fill a glass with water from the fridge.

Before going any further, make sure that the ice cube detection arm in the freezer is not up. Gently push the arm down if it is. When ice cubes are ready, the ice maker turns on a small heater to break the bond of the ice cubes to the cube mold. The arm is lifted up and out of the way. Then the mechanical fingers wipe or push on the cubes to dislodge them from the ice cube mold and they fall into the container. The arm is then lowered again and rests on top of the ice collected in the container. The position of the arm when resting on the ice cubes determines whether or not any more ice cubes are made.

If the arm is hanging down, then ice cube production should be on. The problem may be either a faulty solenoid valve (mentioned above), switch in the ice maker assembly - the detection arm in particular or wiring between.

How do I adjust the ice maker volume

Depends on what type ice maker you have. The top 3 are: Compact,Modular, and electronic. The electronic dude has builtin sensors that feel the water level and adjust as needed no mater what the water pressure. These are not servicable. The compact model has a metal pate behind the cover and you can readily see the cube sizer screw. The modular type is the most popular. Under the cover it has DO NOT ROTATE MANUALLY on the main drive gear. The water adjustment is located at the 3O'Clock position of the head. A small screw. here is a manual:

Water does not seem to be flowing into ice maker.

Hi and I hope this will help. You can manually turn the timer and see if any water is dispensed into the ice cube tray . If no water is dispensed check if the valve is any good . A solenoid in the valve opens to allow water in to the ice maker. Sometimes timers stick too.

Ice cube maker just stopped working. Ice cube arm has no tension to it.

If you can find someone that will take yours apart and rebuild the components inside the front of the ice maker would be good. The problem is with older ice makers you may over look the next part to fail. Your model has a tricky spring that helps the arm lock into place. You can visit our site or call the toll free number and get free help and advice. If you can locate your refrigerator model number that will also be helpful Their numbers always look like this for example 213.54698

Ice maker does not consistently make ice...

try turning off ice maker for a day. remove the bucket that holds the ice. look all around bucket and into ice maker to determin if there is a jam, or if there is a cube stuck there preventing operation. Check that the ice arm can move freely and it is properly inserted on both ends. Make sure there is nothing in your freezer that could be getting in the way of the ice maker operation, either above or below the unit. One hint-wear disposable gloves when working with the ice maker-if you have any moisture on your hands, you tend to stick to the unit.
