The printer ran out of ink in the yellow cartridge, but when I replace it with a new cartridge it would not acknowledge it. Showed that the ink cartridge was still empty. I replace it with yet another, but it still reads empty, even though I know it has ink in it. I read online that this is a common problem with some HP printers. How can I fix this. Printer works fine otherwise but won't print in color because of this one cartridge. I have tried a total reset of the printer, but this has not helped.

I'am facing the same problem. I have no idea of any effective solution. Actually I have tried everything that is mentioned in several threads on the net: different types of the printer reset, CMOS reset as well, but without luck. I'm afraid it won't print in colour anymore. It all comes down to some electronic issue I guess. That's why I'm not able to cope with it.
hp support>d 7360>software and drivers>diagnostic utility (2010-11-09). download (run). Test and print test page which is only one sentence. worked for me.
I had the same problem with mine but I bought a refill cartridge instead of a new one and went through three refilled cartridges when I found that it was that I needed a brand new one. For some reason, the HP printers and some other printers need to know that you are using the same brand of ink as the printer. if it is another brand it wont except it and it wont let you print anything! So make sure it is a brand new hp brand ;)
I have this same problem and some sites said to uninstall the software then download the software from the HP site and reinstall it. So I am giving that a try tonight
First make sure you are placing the right color cartridge into the right slot. Most Printers are touchy about the installation of ink cartridges. If the instructions say to press the cartridge into the slot until you hear a loud click, that's what they mean. If at first you don't succeed, remove the cartridge and reinsert it into the slot again and press on it hard till it clicks. Then your printer should work properly. Hope this is of some help. Bud
If the printer is connected to your computer - check to see if there is a blinking Red exclamation point / printer icon in the system tray. Sometimes mousing over this icon to see the tooltip is the only way to figure out what error message the printer is trying to tell you.
For us - when this happens, the printer is complaining about an "incompatible" ink cartridge - even though 99% of the time it will print from that cartridge without problems. So try removing and re-inserting all of your ink cartridges too.
Hi, since you've already replace the yellow ink cartridge for several times and its not recognize. Your printer might have a defective printhead. You may take your printer to the nearest HP service center in your area so that they can look on your printer further.
