What to do when you only have Green on a CRT Projection TV.

If you have a picture, but only in green on a 3 crt projection TV, I would try turning up the drive for the red and blue guns. They have probably changed over time and red and blue have lost drive and need a boost. Green makes up 70 percent of the picture compared to red and blue so the drive would not have to drop much to lose red and green but still have green. Keep in mind that this does mean that the CRTs are dying and may not have too much time left.

To turn up the drives first remove the back cover on the bottom half of the machine. Be very careful as you will have to work on this unit live. Do not touch anything other than what I tell you and keep one hand in your pocket whenever possible.

First look at the space above the main circuit board. Somewhere across the beam supporting the CRTs you will see a square box with 6 controls (shafts). You can locate the box if you follow the wires from the flyback to the box. The flyback is located on the power board and produces the high voltage. It will have 4 large red rubber wires coming out of it. Three go to the focus divider block (the box in question) then they go on to the crts (red, green, blue).

Once you locate the focus divider look at it closely. The focus controls are on top and the drives are on the bottom. They should be marked red, green and blue. You want to turn up the red and blue. Tune a picture with as much black as possible. While watching it turn up the red until you see a red tint or streak then turn down until it just disappears. Do the same with the blue. You may want to touch up the green also for good color balance.

If the set is working OK and the CRTs have enough drive left, your picture should look normal.

How do i wire red white and yellow rca to an xbox 1 av plug. my av plug has blaack white orange and green wires

In the old school standard AV: Red and White are usually audio channels (Red:Right - White:Left), Yellow is video.

Orange can be coax audio, (both L&R channels in one cable). Before digital (optical) came out, some receivers actually had a coax (orange) jack in the back. Radio Shack sells a splitter if necessary.

In higher resolution systems video is separated into three colored cables: RGB or Red, Green, Blue
called 'component' video. The green cable carries Yellow, the blue cable carries (PB) Blue and the red cable carries Red (PR). And with today's tech, the component signal is carried YCBCR as (digital video.) cf. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/YPbPr

Component 'wire colors' are there just to remind us. If your TV has "Component" input. Try green to green, white to yellow and black to red. Orange to audio (splitting L&R if necessary)..

Also, here is a PS3 link that might help: http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=9238
Good luck !

Sony KP-53S65. Only have the green lens working. Blue and Red out. Everything else seems OK. What's going on with it?

I turned my kp57ws510 on and I had three images-red, blue, and green. If I put it on ESPN the ticker at the bottom is curved.

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.
This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

The image is divide on three.red,blue,green. At first when on for the first 10 minutes it looked fine then the image diverged with the 3 colors. Now the image is divided in 3 colors all the time. What...

This most likely is convergence problem, see attached photo, do not pay for this help.

Set uses two convergence chips, they will need be replaced, less than 15 dollars for a pair.

If you are interested make a comment and I will assist you.

Plugs on the Wii lead are red, white & yellow. Sockets on TV are red, blue & green, which goes where

The three on your tv are part of the component cable setup which contains six cables like here:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/images/B000NUR582/ref=dp_image_0?ie=UTF8&n=560798&s=electronics

You probably have the normal red, white and yellow sockets elsewhere on your tv somewhere, try looking up the manual online.
