If 3D picture one or both of the the STK-392-560 CONVERGENCE IC chips this set uses is bad.
Both chips need to be replaced and any fuses or protect resistors around them as well that are bad need to be replaced.
Some basic facts:
The chips are located usually on the left side as you look from the back on two metal heat sinks with fins.
Each has 18 pins and is bolted to the heat sink. A white grease is applied to the metal back of each chip when it is installed----it transfers heat quickly from the chip to the heat sink--hence the name.
After some years the grease dries out and one of the chips pops and convergence is lost.
Considering the parts for a repair like this are usually under 25 dollars total---if you or someone you know can do it for you---you can save the set and also a lot of money.
I can tell you the best place to buy the parts, tell you if you decide to do it what to look for first, and YES I can give you general instructions for this sets repair.
If you cannot do the repair yourself---shop around your area---most shops charge 300-400 for this type of repair. If they say it "Has to go to the Shop" keep looking as any good tech can do this repair in your home in about 1 hour---------I KNOW, I have done hundreds of them.
