Question about Onkyo TX-SR803 Receiver

Onkyo 805 zone 2 problem

I have an onkyo 805 and setup zone 2 for another room. When I am playing one source in the main zone and a different source in the second zone the sound from zone two lightly comes in on the main zone. Im not sure if it is a setup or if it is a defect. I have been a home theater installer for the last 4 years and never had this problem. Any suggestions?

I am having the same issue with a brand new Onkyo 705! I have the CD sound coming in on the center channel and sub of the main room setup as well as zone 2, even when I unplug COMPLETELY the center channel speaker from the back. I have no idea what is happening or how to fix--I have a Bose Acoustimass 15 5.1 setup and I can only think of some issue with the preout to the powered sub? This was one of the main reasons I bought it!

recently purchased onkyo 805 and also have zone 2 output problem. have hdmi cables from dvd player to receiver.

was told to hook up analog cables from dvd to 805 which I did, sound still only comes out of front surround speakers in main room.

Tried Tuner FM radio on zone 2, same issue, only outputs from front speakers in main room.

still working with onkyo support to correct.

I have an Onkyo 875 and am experiencing the same problem.

Zone 2 is actively powered and the Front L/R speakers in the main room when it is on. This is true regardless of whether the main zone is on or in standby.

Did anyone ever get this resolved?

I'm having a similar issue but with an 806. I can't get anything to come out of zone 2 despite trying the various settings (powered an unpowered). To be specific I have an airport express hooked up to the CD input (RCA). Music plays through the main speakers fine, but nothing at all from zone 2 speakers.

I have the same problem of Zone 2 bleedthrough on rear speakers in main room (5.1 setup). Anyone ever figure this out. I am also a home theater installer and I am baffled. Thanks

Onkly SR606 7.1 - Zone 2, no sound output at all. Tested with RCA output to RCA input speaker, then tested bare wire output to barewire input speaker, read the manual Zone 2 Section several times, but Zone 2 speaker(s) are not putting out any sound. Played with Zone 2 volume and Zone 2 on off button as well. Zone 2 light says its on, but no sound coming through......I am stumped

I just figured out what I was doing wrong last night. On the 806 at least, when zone 2 is not powered (receiver is set to act) there is a separate volume control 'level' that is on the receiver a couple buttons right of the zone 2 button. By default this level appeared to be set to -50db. As soon as I turned up this level sound came out of my zone two.

I cant get my zone 2 to play the same thing as my main tv room, how do i fix the problem?

zone2 does need an analogue signal. If your tv room has an digital source, the zone2 won'tgive the same.

Check the manual, the analogue issue is described.

Denon 1910 Zone 2 no sound

Typically, Zone 2 is for a different program than the one you're hearing in the main listening room. You can choose any source for Zone 2 EXCEPT a digital one.

I have the Onkyo HT-S5100, the 5 speaker are set

also, you might have to search through the menu of the receiver, and set the surround back speakers to be zone 2 instead of using the 7.1 configuration that is probably default.

i think zone 2 will only play sources that are hooked up with analog connects, ie. red/white cables. try using the radio to see if it works. you might have to hook up your cable/sat box, cd player, dvd player, whatever you have that you want to listen to with both digital and analog cables to get everything to work right.

Zone 2 speakers only work with the tuner - no sound comes out when switched to DVD, Cable/SAT, ect. All of my other devices (DVD player, Satellite Receiver, ect.) run through the receiver. How do I get...

zone 2 will only work with analog sources so if your dvd, cable and other devices are connected via HDMI, that alone won't work. What you need to do is hook up RCA (red and white) cables from the dvd player to dvd in of the receiver and same thing for your satellite box (and other sources.) no need to change any setting on the receiver. This way, the HDMI will take care of your main room speakers and the RCA will feed your zone 2 speakers.

Hope this helps.

Onkyo 506 zone 2 no sound

I believe that you can only get analog signals thru zone 2 (i.e radio, cassette player), kind of a ripoff since they bury this info in the manual

No HDMI Output

My configuration:
ZONE 1 (living room)
DishNetwork Dual Tuner DVR Tuner 1 [S-Video out] -> [S-Video in] ONKYO TX-SR875 [HDMI out] -> [HDMI in] Sony KDS-60A3000 rear projection TV

ZONE 2 (living room)
DishNetwork Dual Tuner DVR Tuner 2 [Composite Video out] -> [Composite Video in] ONKYO TX-SR875 [Composite Video out] -> [Composite Video in] Samsung AQUOS LCD TV

ONKYO receiver stops sending video signal to my ZONE 1 Sony TV through the HDMI connection. ZONE 2 may still receive video. (NOTE: the issue might be related to the upconverter circuitry?)

I couldn't see any video, but I could hear the Tuner 1 audio through my ONKYO. An important clue is that I couldn't see ONKYO's on-screen display menu on my TV when hitting the [Setup] button on my remote. But, I could see my TV's Sony-based menus and display options.

1. Put all ZONES in Standby mode using the remote. Hit these buttons on remote: [Receiver], then [Standby]. [Receiver], [ZONE2], then [Standby], [Receiver], [ZONE3], then [Standby]. You should NOT see any lights on the ONKYO except maybe one red led near the power button.
2. Pull the power plug out of the back of the ONKYO, and leave unplugged for 20-30 seconds. Turning off any power center it is connected to isn't enough. You MUST unplug the power from the back of the ONKYO for 20-30 seconds.
3. Reconnect the power cord to the ONKYO.
4. Using the remote, set ZONE1 to a video source known to be working. If you don't see video, try leaving the power cord off for a longer period.

I know it sounds too simple to work, but that's what brought the video back for me the few times the video stopped displaying. Hope it works for you.

Onkyo Zone 2 problem

The zone 2 will only play analog sources - so  you must hook up the output from the tv/cable/dss on it's analog (RCA Jacks) into an input on the Onkyo.  You might also have to enable this output from you tv/cable/dss.
