SoundDock won't charge new iPhone 3Gs only 2G

SoundDock won't charge new iPhone 3Gs - it will play the audio, but won't charge the phone. It always has, and still does charge the original iPhone fine. Any ideas?

The 3Gs charges fine on other cables & chargers.
The Bose "contacts" work fine with 2G phones no problems charging those phones at all, I doubt they are suddenly dirty when a 3Gs is put on and then clean again a moment later with the original iPhone.
So the dead battery in the phone, and dirty contacts on the Bose just isn't logical to be the problem.

Thanks, I didn't find that on Bose's site, but I suspected it

The original Sounddock will never be able to charge the new Iphone 3G. You will have to sell it (on ebay) and then get yourself the SoundDock Series II. It's very similar to the original and it will charge your iPhone 3G. The new SoundDock also has the SoundDock Portable's more advanced remote control, and a new auxiliary input so you can plug in other audio devices. I believe they are $299 brand new but look around and you should be able to get one for less.

Yes there are a few poss casuses, the charging contacts are defective or dirty, or the phone's battery is defective, the battery in these phones last about 2 years in normal use, less if it is run dead allot, clean the charging contacts on the phone, if that doesn't do it then the battery may be defective..

I just bought the ipod nano 6th generation and it will not charge in the Bose docking system....my old one charges with no problem.....is there a fix for this? The nano plays fine it just wont charge

If it is a different model iPod then it is likely the Bose dock does not support the newer model. Quite often changes such as from iPhone 3 to iPhone 4, Bose had to release a new dock. The speakers and music will still always work, but the support will be limited for charging. Unfortunately you will not be able to fix this, other than upgrade the dock, or go back to your old ipod.

I am thinking of getting and Ipod touch 3G. I have JBL on stage micro Speakers. I've charged a Ipod touch 2G, but I want a 3G! Please Help!

When the OnStage speakers first came out, the charger was not compatible with 3g iPods or iPhones. Newer speakers have an upgraded charger and will charge all current iPods/iPhones (up to and including iPhone 3Gs)

Bad news is that there's no way to upgrade an old OnStage.

You can test yours by trying an iPhone 3G (if you have a friend with one, for example) to see if you have the old or the new charging circuit.

I put my new iphone 3GS on my sounddock 2 and it worked for one track. The whole sounddock has now totally died. I've tried it with 2 other ipods and still not working and changed the fuse in the plug. ...

You probably have a broken docking connector or bad power supply. Contact www.invebo.com to get a replacement board. It takes minutes to fit. They also sell the USB charge upgrade to enable you dock to charge the IPHONE on the Soundock original.
