My LG VX-8700 does not vibrate. Ring works, but vibrate mode is the same as silent mode. Can this be fixed?

  • mmaakestad Oct 29, 2009

Unfortunately, this suggestion does not make sense to me; can you explain differently? The ringer works fine. When I set the phone to vibrate mode, however, it does not vibrate. I did not find "profiles", just main menu => settings & tools => sounds settings. Could not activate the vibrate mode there. Wondering if perhaps it is a hardware problem? Has this happened to anyone else's LG VX-8700 and, if so, can it be repaired for a reasonable price? Thanks.

Yes,
What happened is you probably set it on silent and from the soft keys, you increased the ringer volume. What you want to do is go to main menu => settings => profiles, and from there make sure your ringing volume is set on lowest possible.

When someone texts or calls me my phone vibrates instead of ring

You probably have silent mode on. Try pressing and holding the pound or the star key. One of those will probably release silent mode, so that whatever ring setting you have can be used.

How do i turn my phone to silent mode?

To place the handset in Silent / Vibrate Mode
Step 1
To place the handset in Silent / Vibrate Only Mode, hold down the pound key (#) for about 2 seconds. To exit Silent / Vibrate Mode, perform the same action while in Silent / Vibrate Only Mode. You will see a confirmation message for Silent / Vibrate Only Mode, each time you enter or exit Silent / Vibrate Mode.
The SCH-U470 (Juke) handset will vibrate rather than ring when you receive a phone call, message or alert while in Silent Vibrate Only Mode.
Step 2
While in standby mode, press the volume key, located on the left side of the handset, then select either “Vibrate Only", “Alarm Only” or “All Sounds Off”. To disable perform the same action while in Silent / Vibrate Mode.
The SCH-U470 (Juke) handset will vibrate rather than ring when you receive a phone call, message or alert while in Silent / Vibrate Only Mode.

Iphone silent mode

The best way to fix this is to hold the Power and the Home button for 15 seconds or so, basically hold them both until the Apple Logo reappears. I work at o2 and have seen this problem a few times, its nothing major, just annoying

Hope this helps guys

Lg 8700

I can help fix your phone. The advice u got from the VZW rep is mostly not true. I have been a LG fan for awhile (about 11 years), until some of their recent pathetic models (Choc.1, vx8600, etc.), which I did owned, and very disappointed. I switched to Samsung and feeling fine again.

The U550 and VX-8700 are very similar in design and features....u can compare them here.... http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/compare.php?id%5B%5D=1104&id%5B%5D=1414&id%5B%5D=&id%5B%5D=&id%5B%5D=

The Samsung will outperform LG....
