Acer 5100 laptop dvd/cd player is broken,how do you remove to replace it?
Remove the access cover on the bottom of the case that houses the heatsink, wireless card and RAM memory. No components have to be removed to remove the cd drive. Now look at the cd bezel and then back toward where the RAM memory is installed in thier slots. There is a screw marked by a circle with what looks like a wedge taken out. This is the holding screw for the cd player. Once you remove this screw, there is agap next to the screw hole that you can stick the screwdriver in and push the cd player part way out of the case. Once you do that, grip the front of the drive and pull it free of the case. Refer to page 60 of the service manual I have included the link for below. Make sure you have a PDF file reader like Adobe or Fox-It Reader.
