That's the problem of updating your computer's OS without verifying if your existing devices is compatible with win7 OS. For the meantime you need to hardwire your PC directly to the router if you wanted to get online. Just check their website from time to time if they have available drivers or I suggest buy another wireless adapter that's compatible with win7.
Here are the links for the drivers you need.Windows XP Pro 32bit: http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles%5CDriver/Wireless%20LAN/Wireless_Atheros_5.3.0.67_XPx86.zip?acerid=633640465077227028&Step1=Notebook&Step2=Aspire&Step3=Aspire%205100&OS=X02&LC=en&SC=PA_7Windows XP Home 32bit: http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles%5CDriver/Wireless%20LAN/Wireless_Atheros_5.3.0.67_XPx86.zip?acerid=633640465077227028&Step1=Notebook&Step2=Aspire&Step3=Aspire%205100&OS=X01&LC=en&SC=PA_7Copy and paste which ever version you have installed. It should open a direct link to the driver.
That update is not for Vista but for your router, you need to log in to it as admin and find the firmware update option and give the bin file to it. And I storngly suggest to not to try this via wireless connection, you can easily ruin your router that way, use rj45 ethernet cable during the update.
And for the obvious question about how to log in to it's admin menu easiest way to have a look in to it's documentation and there you should find a step by step guide with possibly some pictures.
