I have 3 cds stuck in the tray of my Yamaha GX-505 and when I select play, I get a "mechanical er" message. How do I get the cds out without destroying my stereo?
I have the same problem. My Yamaha GX-707 CD tray hit the side of the cabinet and the tray was unable to come all the way out. I pushed it back in thinking it would be the same as a DC on a computer. Now, I cant open it or utilize the open button.I have the same problem. My Yamaha GX-707 CD tray hit the side of the cabinet and the tray was unable to come all the way out. Re: cd tray stuck closed
If you are not a tech expert, i would suggest that you bring the unit to service center ahd have them remove the CDs themselves. you have to remove some screws in the mechanism of the changer and you may acidentaly damage the lense. Just be careful when you carry and transport the unit not to tilt on either side. you have to keep it up straight always to prevent the CD falling out of the tray.

you need to open the cover of your component and have access to the mechanical system of the CD. The timing gears might got dislocated and you need to manually adjust them.check also if there are belts that are broken replace them.
could be one of 2 things
use a cd lens cleaner to clean the laser lens .
or could be warped or damaged cds and player wont play them
also if they are burnt cd the player may be to old to read them.
Since CDs and CD-R's work fine, its probably that the disc tray of your xbox 360 is not working. you might wanna try contacting xbox customer support to check the warranty status of your console. might as well send it in for repairs
Play Recordable CDs Containing MP3/WMA Audio Files
To play recordable CDs containing MP3 and/or WMA audio files:
Press the eject button on the Xbox 360 console (or select Open Tray from any area of the Xbox Dashboard) to open the disc tray.
Place a data CD-R or CD-RW containing MP3 and/or WMA media on the
disc tray with the label facing up (to the right if the console is
vertical).
Press the eject button (or select Close Tray from any area of the Xbox Dashboard) to close the disc tray.
Go to the Media area of the Xbox Dashboard. Select Music, Current Disc.
To play all tracks on the CD, select either Play All or Add to Current Playlist.
If you have an existing playlist open, Add to Current Playlist will
append all tracks on your current CD to that playlist. Selecting Play
All will clear a current playlist and create a new one consisting of
all the files on the current CD. (Be sure to save your playlist, if
desired, prior to selecting the Play All option.) Files are added to a
playlist in alphabetical order by file name. Playlists start again from
the beginning once the final track has played.
