Kenmore 106.536323000 S/S: Not Cooling Enough

The freezer lower section is producing cold air and I can feel the draft, but the upper half is not really freezing. The same for the Fridge section, lower half is cold (not as cold as it used to be) and the upper half is not at all cold.

YOU HAVE A DEFROST PROBLEM. FROST HAS BUILT UP SOMEWHERE AND THE FAN CAN'T BLOW PAST THE BLOCKAGE. OR ONLY A SMALL SECTION OF YOUR COILS IN THE FREEZER ARE COOLING DUE TO A CLOGGED FILTER OR BAD COMPRESSOR. PULL THE BACK COVER FROM INSIDE THE FREEZER AND LOOK AT THE COILS. THEY SHOULD HAVE A LIGHT FROST AVER THE ENTIRE COIL.IF IT IS A BIG BLOCK OF ICE YOU HAVE A DEFROST PROBLEM.

If your refrigerator section is not cold enough at the normal setting you may have a problem.
If you can't find enough information at the link below resubmit your question and include the model number. It should be inside the refrigerator section. It's usually on the upper right wall.

The kenmore 20 frostless deep freezer is cold in the lower section of the freezer but the upper half is warm the setting is maxed out. the air that is blowing across the coil appears to be warm. that leads...

The evaporator coil must be lightly frosted from the top to bottom. This proves that all of the r-134a freon is still present in the system. If you visiblely see that it is not (half frosted the other half warm?no frost) then this is a sign that the r-134a freon has leaked out. Another way to determine for sure is to use refrigeration gauges to check the pressure.

let me know what you found then we can take it from there... hope this was helpful

Does the single temperature control guage affect both, freezer and

check in the freezer section for a knob to control the freezer. Turn this knob back to center and return refrigerator setting to 5. What is happening is the freezer control is just a baffle that divides the air flow into the fresh food and freezer section. If the freezer knob is turn to 1 or cold it is sending all the cold air into the refrigerator, then when you turn down the actual cold control, the system isn't allowed to run long enough to allow the freezer to stay frozen.

I have a GE GSS25WGMD BB Fridge. I have already replaced the Defrost Heater and Freezer Thermostat. The lower sections of the fridge and freezer are very cold. The ice maker will not produce ice and the...

First, when the refrigerator is running, open the freezer door and hold in the light switch so the freezer light goes out. You should be able to hear the freezer (evaporator) fan running. If it is running, then you most likely have a problem with the air damper. It is a motorized door in the very upper left side, back corner, of the fresh foods section. The door needs to be open for air to flow into the refrigerator section. If you place your hand near the vent holes at the upper refrigerator section and the freezer fan is running, FF section warm, you should feel cold air entering. If not, the damper door may have broken. It is not real easy to get at to replace, but that is where your problem may be. Be sure to check the freezer fan first, as a non-working icemaker may point in that direction.

Freezer working fine, but Refrigerator no longer cooling

Sounds like there's an airflow problem to the top section. Things that cause no cold air to the top fridge section are... frozen up coils completely blocking most of air flow (defrost cycle not working), evap fan not working to blow air up to fridge, air control dampers in fridge closed or not working properly, or frozen air ducts supply/return. Pull the whole drawer out the bottom and take the rear inside back off to expose the coils. If they are frozen solid the defrost t-stat or defrost timer could be bad (heat element not usually bad). If there is a nice white frost all over evenly then that's OK. Check that the fan is running when the compressor is running to blow the air up and that there are no blocked air ducts, etc. If all that is good, check if you can feel good air flow from the upper vents with the lower door closed (that shows there is no blockage and the fan is running).
