Whirlpool cabrio will not spin

If your Whirlpool Washer is not spinning the problem is almost always the lid switch. If the lid switch is bad you will not hear the motor running when in spin. To check the lid, first unplug the washer.

Washer will not spin r drain model whirlpool la7680xmwo

Sounds most likely a broken/defective lid switch. The lid switch on a top-load washer is a safety switch that detects whether the top-load washer lid is closed. The lid must be closed when the basket spins; some top-load models require that the washer lid be closed before the washer drive motor runs (thus no draining). If the lid switch isn't properly detecting whether the lid is closed replace the switch.

Estate by whirlpool model SM8280867. Filled, then stopped. What's wrong?

Charla, By what you have stated, it sounds like a lid switch failure. I recommend checking the screws for the lid hinge first. The lid has to be closed for the motor to run in the washer. If the lid switch is faulty, it will act as if the lid is open. A quick check you can do is to run a cycle with the lid switch jumped. If the washer operates, the lid switch needs to be replaced.
To jump the lid switch you need to unplug the washer and open the console.Once you have the console open, locate the connector for the lid switch. Place an insulated jumper between the gray and white wires. Not the green it is a ground and will cause a short. After inserting the jumper make sure it will not touch anything metal, plug the washer in. Then start the washer in a cycle, and let it go. If the washer completes the cycle, you need to replace the lid switch. Remove the jumper and order the part. The jumper is only of the test do not continue to operate after test.

My whirlpool model/LSR8233JQ1 will not agitate or spin ut does everything else. already bypassed lid switch years ago because it broke, its still connected.

1. you possibly have a malfuncitoning timer
the timer is the control to the motor and the pump on a washer and each click represents function to the components on the washer such as the spin cycle ( the motor engages to spin the drum to extract the water to the pump at a given time on the timer.
Your machine need a service tech to determine this issue.
I hope this helps.

Washer stopped at the drain cycle Model LSR8233JQ1

Could be either a bad lid switch or a bad water valve.
Set the timer dial to SPIN and turn the machine on.
If it spins the lid switch is OK. If it does not spin the lid switch must be replaced.
Next, set the timer dial on a wash cycle and set the water temperature knob to COLD water. If it fills, the lid switch is bad. If it does not fill the water valve is bad or the cold screen filter is clogged.
If the COLD does not fill, turn off the cold water faucet. Remove the cold water hose from the machine water valve and check for a clooged screen.
If it does not fill with COLD water and the screen is clear, replace the water valve.

Washer does not spin

Hi, There are several causes for this problem. Check these.

  • No spin at all: the lid switch is fried. You test it with your meter.                                  There will be a motor which spins the washing machine's drum.                                              If you don't hear the motor running, then its the lid switch which would have been broken and needs replacing. A bad lid switch wil interrupt the spin cycle.

  • In the Whirlpool washers, a common problem is that the lid plunger stops making contact with the lid switch. Use a pen to manually press the lid switch actuator (with the lid up, duh). If the washer spins...well, you know the rest.

  • Older (belt-drive) Whirlpool: the spin solenoid is burned out or has cut wires. Ohm out that solenoid (20-30 ohms) and test with a test cord. Make sure the wires are intact by giving them a little tug. If this is OK, you may need to adjust/replace the basket drive.

  • Timer is fried. On older timers, it's sometimes possible to run an external jumper to replace the bad internal contacts. Usually, however, the entire timer must be replaced. The only way to confirm is to use your meter and wiring diagram.

These are the causes that have to be inspected. You can also visit this site www.whirlpool.com/custserv/index.jsp

Hope my info solves your problem, Thanx for using fixya, Good luck.
