SOURCE: Mavica FD95 Flash Quit Working???

My flash went out twice on my FD-95. The first time it was fixed under warranty and it was the bulb. This time I haven't fixed since I have my 707 now. It still works with the external flash like yours did before you dropped it. If possible I would try and buy another external flash since your time is short. When I had my camera fixed under warranty it was just about to run out and they, the camera shop, told me I should get it fixed now instead of out of warranty because the cost could be hundreds just in labor alone. Good luck.

How di I manually pop open the flash

Press the OPEN (flash) button.
This button is on the side of the camera just below the flash.

The flash mode button (lightning icon) is at the lower left on the rear of the camera.
This only changes settings when the flash is up.
This cycles through Auto, red-eye reduction, forced flash and no flash.
The mode shows in the finder or the LCD screen.
AUTO mode does not show.

Sony Mavica FD95 Camera

This is a common problem with the Mavica FD95. There is a little switch in the drive slot to sense the write protect tab on the disk.

If you hold open the drive door without a disk in, you should see this switch where the write protect tab goes. Try operating the switch with a matchstick a few dozen times to attemp to clean the contacts. If that doesn't work then Very carefully let a drop of switch cleaner run into the switch and try operating it a few times then let it dry. Failing that you might want to open the camera to get to the terminals on the switch and test it with a multimeter.

If the switch is faulty and a replacement is not availble then you could just short(or disconnect) it to fool the drive into thinking any disk is writable.

Good luck

Storage/memory used SD or usb flash disk

Try setting your picture size to a smaller size. If your pictures are used mostly for being viewed on a computer, or for smaller print sizes like 3x5 or 4x6, you should not lose any quality. The smaller file size does not take as long to write to the disk.

FD95/memory-what do I need?

You need the MSAC-FD2M Floppy Disk Adapter. It's probably going to be hard to find these days.

Mavica FD95 Error Msg C:13:01

A Cxxxx error normally can be fixed by the user. I suggest you remove the battery pack AND the button cell (I suppose the FD95 has one) and leave it without both for at least half an hour. I would think that after that, it should be ok except that you'll have to set the clock and some other preferences again. Hope this helps.
