My second phone has shown "Unavailable" since I hooked it up. The other one works just fine. Help

My GE 5.8 duel base cordless say "unavailable" on both phones. We can not use either phone. No dial tone only says "unavailable.

I have a ge27851f-2 cordless dual phone and both handsets say unavailable even when paired at the base.

If the base station is plugged into the phone line you should be able to designate one phone as the master. That phone should be on the base station when charging. If you look in the manual it should show you how to redo the master. It's usually just pushing a button when on the station. Just takes a second. That will also enable the phone to work with the base station. It locks out any phones that haven't been physically connected to the bases. To do the second phone you may have to do a slightly differant process to register it with the bases.

2nd handset says unavailable and will not work

you have to put the second headset in the main phone charging base( ie the base where the phone line is plugged in) for a while (at least 30 seconds) for it to register to phone then you can go on to use it and charge it in its regular charging base

Ge cordless phone station 2 shows unavailable

You have to register the hand set in the main base. Place each handset in the base for 15 seconds minimum. It will change form unavailable to Ready when it grabs the signal from the base. If the power goes out, you will have to re-register each hand set in the base before you use them again.

STILL SAYS "PLEASE REGISTER"

I think this may be the answer. With multiple handsets reading "Please register" and a "working" base station (w ith dial tone). If you bring the remote units to the base station and place them on hte base, they will register and stay registered after you return them to the remote base. It doesn't say this anywhere in the instructions as it gives you the impression the remotes will register from their own base.

My second handset is disfunctional

you have to put the second handset on the primary base for about 20 seconds for it to accept it, then you will get a tone and everything should work fine from there.

2nd handset doesn't work

Hi Rayfatz,
I think your problem might be that the second handset is not registered with the base station. Take the second phone out of it's cradle and place it in the base station (where the first phone is), and leave it there for 20 seconds. Place it back in it's own cradle, and it should start working. Hope this helps! Hal

GE 25931 Cordless Unavailable

I had the same problem recently due to a power outage during a storm. GE advised to disconnect the power cord and telephone cord on the "mother" unit. Wait five minutes. Then plug it back in.

I placed the "mother" phone back in the base. After the screen flashed on the "mother" phone, I removed it and then put the other two portables in the "mother" base.

This corrected my problem and all is now well.
