I have a wirless router but it has to be setup same numbers as the music site I go to.I can't bring router up on my comp to look at it.I checked in firefox and it is recognizing that music site

you can access the defaut gateway of your router (192.168.1.1)
with that number you can open the setup page of the router
linksys has a default username and password

password=admin
click the wirless tab
under wireless/ click on wireless security
>>look for the default transmit key

pls contact the seller...if ur Win7 is genuine then it must not have been authorised by Microsoft for use....
check if ur Wirless Network has been setup properly with Admin privilages...
The WEP key is the security key that you setup when you initially setup your router. w/o that key you won't be able to connect. if you can not remember the wep key; enter the setup of your router. u will see it there under the security setting tab.
This has to do with the communication to your wireless router. You can setup your protection on your wireless router to WEP type with a login password and it should eliminate the problem. However some users have interference from software (ei: Fusion), Also, try resetting your network in this order: Turn off all comps, routers, modem. Then first turn on the wifi router and let it boot. Be sure everything else is off. Then secondly, with the e-net cable connected just between the router and the modem, turn the modem on and it will recognize your wifi as the "computer" address and then turn on all other peripherals and comps. This will allow your wifi to get control of delegating all mac addresses to all other parts of your network and you should have less issues. Be sure to put WEP password on it too, to keep freeloaders from grabbing your network.
To setup your router first check.. Connect the Broadband modem to the computer using an Ethernet cable without the router installed and make sure that the Internet connection is active. If it is not, contact your Internet Service Provider. If it can go online, to setup connection.. Step 1: Connect the Broadband modem to the router’s WAN or Internet port. Step 2: Connect the computer to any available numbered port (1, 2, 3 or 4). NOTE: In this example, we’ll connect the computer to port number 3. Step 3: Make sure the power adapter is plugged to an available power outlet.

ya need to check the ip add setting of acces point , as well as ssid , channel n region too.
once ya log into the the routers configuration page , check that yor comp is getting the ip of same range/class from yor router, it might be liil different in the last number , no worries till then.... n assign the same ssid , region and security setting - like the secuirty key for wless to yor wless comps also. n calso check your comps are on dynamic ip settings. however if ya want to use the staic ip , then give yor comps a staic ip in the same range as yor router' range. n check the wzc service of yor windows xp or above system. it should be enable n running n should be usingthe same security key for wirless connection. or chat with me on samrat101, yahoomssgr or msn messnger
