Reformatting songs/mp3 player

I'm trying to help out my father with putting music on his new sansa c250. He says when he drags and drops them they turn red and he can't sync them. It sounds like they are probably in the wrong format. Should I tell him to get a program to reformat the songs (they are in WMA format)? Or is there are way to reformat the mp3 player to WMA format?
Thank you

The Sandisk site says that your dad's device should play .wav, .mp3 and .wma files. Has the player EVER worked? I got a C250 for my wife as a Christmas present and my computer recognized but refused to communicate with it UNTIL I DOWNLOADED AND INSTALLED THE FIRMWARE UPDATE. The player was a paperweight until then. It turned on and played the demo files pre-loaded on it, but I couldn't transfer a single file into it. Just a thought. Here's the link:

good luck.

My sansa c250 music folder is empty

Actually after some searching it is VERY easy to manage the c250, you just have to know how to connect it. You must connect it to read as MSC format. To do this, put on the hold feature and press and hold the rewind/previous track button as you connect it. This will open it up as a removable disc. So just drag and drop whichever songs you want from the MUSIC folder. You may also delete individual songs that are already on there. Hope this helps, works for me.

Cant load songs

the best way for that is to read your manual.

MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
Windows XP SP1
Windows Media Player 10
Intel Pentium class PC or higher
CD-ROM drive
USB 2.0 port required for hi-speed transfer
CONNECTING AND TRANSFERRING
Connect to your Computer
1. Connect the small USB Cable Connector to the USB port on your computer, and then plug the larger
Cable Dock Connector in to your Sansa c200 port.
2. Once connected to computer, it should be detected by the operating system automatically and is
shown as an additional drive called “Sansa c200”.
SANSA MEDIA CONVERTER
You will need to use Sansa Media Converter to transfer photos to your Sansa c200. Insert your SanDisk
CD and select Sansa Media Converter to install it to your PC. Then you can load your personal photos
onto your Sansa c200 by using Sansa Media Converter.

TRANSFER MUSIC
To transfer music to your Sansa c200:
1. Connect Sansa c200 to the computer.
2. Drag and drop files from your computer to Sansa c200 by using a variety of music software
programs to transfer/synchronize your files.
3. In MTP mode as long as the files are WMA or MP3, they can be dragged into the Media folder.
Otherwise, they can be dragged into the Data folder (these files will not appear on the player).
4. In MSC mode, files/folders can be dragged/copied to the device.

Cant arrange songs according to my way

I used ID3-TagIT to change the album name of my songs to the name of the folder on my Sansa c250 that I want to put the songs in. Open your Sansa in My Computer, double click on Internal Memory and open the music folder. Add a new folder and name it whatever you put in for the album name of your songs. Highlight all your songs and drag and drop them into your folder. Don't use media player to sync or they end up all mixed up in different folders.

Formated the SanDisk Sansa E280

You dragged & dropped files in recovery mode? Recovery mode is only for re-installing the firmware or formatting the device if it is unresponsive. If you are wanting to drag and drop files onto the device, the music needs to be put into the Music folder on the device. If you do not see the Music folder, you will need to enable hidden files and folders on your PC. Best of Luck. p.s. - you can add to this question this doesnt work.
