MACHINE WILL NOT START

If your Defy DAW 365 front loader washing machine is not starting and the prewash indicating light and door light are staying on, there could be a few potential causes for this issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

1. Check the door: Ensure that the door of the washing machine is securely closed and latched. If the door is not closed properly, the washing machine will not start.

Have you checked the door lock switch? If that fails, the control board will light up but wont let you start the machine as it thinks the door is still open.

How old is it ???

Most likely a control board failure, you need a service tech to come out.

Machine is finding a problem during the initial diagnostucs on startup. Check for damp, condensation on the carbon brushes or worn brushes. Also check for earth leakage.

Sounds like a timer switch malfunction.

Hi, check the following trouble spots below. you will find the issue in one or, all the areas stated.


1. No power to the washer
Make sure there's power getting to the washer. Check for a tripped circuit breaker or a blown fuse. Check the wall socket for power. Sometimes the power cord disconnects at the washer, if this is the case, the wiring must be repaired or replaced.

2. Lid switch/door switch
The washing machine may not function if the lid switch or door switch is defective. The switch is usually located near the door. Replace if found defective.


**If you are getting power to the washer and, step 1 and 2 check out ok, replace the timer control and start switch as well.(You can test the continuity or, resistance level of the Lid switch with a multimeter(ohm).

Ok try this, open the door and then hit these buttons in the following combination. HI TEMP - DRY - HI TEMP - DRY...then close door and press cancel...then wait for the pump to shut down. you should be able to run a cycle after this...If this fails to fix the problem give me the make and model # of the dishwasher, this can normally be found just inside the door.

A faulty or clogged inlet valve can also close few seconds from opening the valve, usually becausu of a faulty solenoid.

If valve and water level switch are ok, then this is a faulty control.
