Oh yes you can.:) pur some wesson oil into the sockets the beaters go into and a little around the button.. Let set a few minutes and work the beaters back and forth as you pull gently. Make sure it is unplugged!!!!!
Testimonial: "Wow!! That is exactly what I already did and it worked like a charm!! Hope this helps somebody else with that problem."
My Blakeslee has been sitting forever with the stupid beater in. The pellet hammer didn't even budge it. A little wiggling and after about 1 minute, it came out after months of being stuck and not able to use any other beater. It felt so good to throw that beater in the dishwasher! Thank you internet!

Oh my gosh! You're AWESOME! We haven't been able to use our Artisan mixer properly for over a year because we just couldn't get our darned flat beater off to wash it! It was stuck, so we just tilted the head back, and wiped it clean with a damp cloth. Gross, I know! Today we finally splurged and bought a Professional mixer but were bummed at the thought of wasting money on a new mixer when the Artisan mixer actually functions fine (except that we can only use the flat beater that's stuck to it!).
I decided to do a Google search and found your solution. I yelled out to my husband to put some vegetable oil on it. I guess he only hear "oil" and instead put some silicone spray on it! YIKES! It smelled nasty. Funny though, it didn't work. So I put a few drops of vegetable oil and seconds later, the beater was off!! Hallelujah! You're a genius.
SOURCE: Can't remove beater from mixer...
I took the advice from: http://forum.kitchenaid.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6356
I put a wash cloth in a pot of boiling water and used tongs to wrap it around the beater shaft while the mixer was resting on its side. When the wash cloth was not too hot to touch, I put it back in the boiling water and did it again. I was then able to easily remove the beater.
SOURCE: Mixing attachment for stand mixer is stuck
I had this happen today. I took a towel and covered all of the beater except where it attaches. I sprayed WD-40 on it. This loosened it and it came unstuck. Then I washed it thoroughly with hot water and soap. It had some dried batter stuck inside which caused it to stick. Guess I better pay better attention to how clean I get it inside. PS Don't spray WD-40 anywhere else - this is something you make food with!
Make sure your Beater can slip in and out of the Beater Shaft
easily. Do not force the beater onto the Shaft if the shaft is bent.
If it cannot be removed easily by hand, use a soft rubber mallet
(not a steel hammer) to slightly tap the beater so it can be moved
up and down the shaft or from side to side. Then you can easily
turn the beater left and remove it from the shaft.
From Kitchenaid Manual:
To Attach Flat Beater, Wire Whip, or Dough Hook
1. Turn speed control to OFF.
2. Unplug stand mixer or disconnect power.
3. Tilt motor head back.
4. Slip beater onto beater shaft and press upward
as far as possible.
5. Turn beater to right, hooking beater over pin on shaft.
6. Plug into a grounded 3 prong outlet.
