I have a Remington LNT-2 104316-05 pole saw that died

I have a Remington 104316-05 pole saw that died today. The motor was loosing speed over time with gradual use. Today it finally quit. What parts do I need? Armature? Field and brush assembly? There is no burning smell coming from the motor and the saw has been well maintained. Any assistance would be appreciated so I can get parts on order as I understand Remington Power has closed up shop. Thanks

    Lou:

I'm well aware that Remington Power has closed up shop. But there are still replacement parts available in the stream. I'd like to repair this thing as it cost me $169 plus taxes a couple of years ago.

Here is my question. What resistance should I be reading across the field terminals with my VOM? 2. What resistance should I see with my VOM across the armature terminals? If I can get an answer to the resistance checks, then I can order either a field and maybe brushes, and or an armature and make it work.

Any info on resistance checks would be appreciated.

All electric parts for your saw are NLA, but you knew that. I suggest you buy a name brand replacement that you can expect to have replacement parts 5 - 10 years from now. Sorry Lou

Guys, it turns out that the fix for my pole saw was very simple. The carbon brushes were worn out. So if anyone has one of these Remington Pole Saws that has lost power and quit, simply remove the armature and replace the carbon brushes. BTW, carbon brushes are readily available on the net. Cheers.

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, didn't see it. I honestly don't know the answer to your question. Do you have a friend or neighbor with one of these? You won't do any lasting damage performing what you discuss. Even if you determine what has failed I seriously dought you will find any parts.

After a quick search on EBay, I found suitable brushes for my Remington Pole Saw motor. I replaced the brushes and it now runs like new.

Am I wise to purchase a Remington Pole Saw or should look for another manufacturer? Which Remington Pole Saw would you purchase: a. 18V Cordless b. 10" Electric

Remington Saws have ceased operations and, unless you like to make your own replacement parts, they are prone to failure. The gearbox is sealed and the motor brushes are not available anywhere. Look elsewhere!

How do I get a replacement chain for my Remington 8'' Pole Saw (Part No 104301-S)

That is not a valid part number (also 8SC NLA Remington & Master). If the pole saw is an RPS96 (LNT-2) with the original or equivilent 8" bar, YOU can make an informed decision based on the following:
"Remington; LNT-2; 8"; All; All; All". You are presented with 3 choices on the following table.

Oregon Bar & Chain Selector
http://www.oregonchain.com/pro/lookups/selguide.aspx?BusId=OCS&SellReg=USA&LangId=ENG

The above results are for an original or equivalent (34 drive link chain to fit) 8" bar. Only YOU can determine your level of expertise, how much risk you are willing to assume and choose one of part numbers listed. Once you make your choice it can be found on the Internet or through local merchants. If your local outlet does not handle Oregon your choice can easily be converted to other chain manufacturers part numbers. I suggest a few phone calls to save you time and gasoline. Given the Oregon part number and your assurance of a purchase, if my store, your chain would be waiting when you walked in the door.
