Our xbox live wouldn't work properly saying that we had an incompatible NAT.
The xbox compatible site said to reset the routers NAT to open. I did this and the router page told me to re enter the address to 192.168.2.254 in order to access the router. this doesn't work and the xbox is still saying incompatible NAT.
192.168.2.1 and 192.168.2.2 no longer access the router.
How do I access the router now?
There is no re set button on the router
I've done all this to no avail. the ipconfig comand at the dos prompt comes back with 10.1.1.1 which is my modem not my router.
The original address of the router was 192.168.2.1
192.168.1.1 did nothing
192.168.2.2 also accessed the router
now nothing does
there must be a way to detect the router and return it's new IP

You can't post conmments that contain an email address.
It is usually 192.168.1.1 to access that routers interface. To find out for sure:
1.Click on run
2. type in cmd and hit enter
3.type 'ipconfig' in the black box that popped up
4. the 'Default gateway' is the address that will be used to access the router page.
I would go to www.portforward.com to learn how to properly forward the ports for your router.

-if your NAt is strict and cannot connect try turning your hub off for 30 seconds then turning it back on if that didnt work. -try resetting your IP address. if that didnt work -take addaptor from xbox to pc out for 30 seconds, then put it back in if that didnt work - try opening thies ports
TCP 53 UDP 53 TCP 80 UDP 88 UDP 3074 TCP 3074

Sometimes depending on the router brand, it's not possible to open your NAT, this simpily becuase some are not specificly designed for Xbox Live purposes. A good example of this is Belkin routers. These brands are most commonly made for Buissness connection servers. If you are experiencing a STRICT/MODERATE Nat with a Belkin router, the chances are you are going to have to deal with it, but that is not 100% of the time. If you've have attempted several techniques to open your Nat and the changes arnt happening, i'd recommend a 'N' powerd Belkin router, the most majority of these routers work 100% perect for Xbox Live, I myself oned one but changed due to a broadband switch.
How do I change the NAT firewall protection? (Open/Moderate/Strict)
Find your IP address number then type it in on your web browser, this will bring up all your switchable options where several options can be changed to your approval. The NAT firewall is one of these options which can be changed. (like I mentioned before, if you own a Belkin router, the chances are even after changing the fireall level, it will turn back to moderate or strict)
At any cost do not disable the NAT - because thisis the feature which allows multiple device to work with router
So only option you've got now is to reset the router. It should be at the rear end of the router. Hold onto it for 30 seconds, u'll see the light flash and router reboot
Once you've done with that - configure router and make it work.
And as of for the Xbox Issue try these steps:
1 - Assign a Static IP address in the Xbox: - Go To Network Settings - Configure Network - Change IP settings to Manual - IP Address: 192.168.2.45 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Gateway: 192.168.2.1 - DNS settings to Manual - Primary DNS: 192.168.2.1 Secondary DNS: 4.2.2.2
2 - with any of the Wired Computers - open IE - type - 192.168.2.1 - u'll get the Router Interface - left hand side in the list of options - click Firewall - leave password blank - disable and apply changes - click Virtual Servers; - under enable place a checkmark - description : Xbox, Inbound Pot : 80(if there are two boxes here duplicate in both the boxes), Type: TCP, Private IP: 45, Private Port: 80 - So Similarly fill up the table for these following Ports TCP: 80, UDP: 88 Both(TCP&UDP): 53, 3074
Additional Note:
If u've a DSL connection, call ur ISP and make sure ur modem is bridged and the NAT is disabled
You just need to enable port forwarding for the ports that the xbox live is using, specifically these ports:
UDP 88
UDP 3074
TCP 3074
You then assign a the static IP you have set on your router, subnet, gateway and dns on your xbox and that should allow your xbox live to work properly with your router.
If your router IS on the list, make sure you have a compatible firmware version (usually the firmware version is written on the router somewhere). If you do not have the proper firmware, you will need to downgrade your firmware (reply to me for instructions on this).
If your router is not on the list, you're outta luck.
