HP 2600n colour lazer. About 2 years old. If I try to remove toner cartridges they release on the left side but stick on the right. I cannot remove them. Is this a simple problem to solve, or should I scrap the printer ? Bill Harris

It sounds like the cartridge locks are broken. The parts are check, but labor is about 2 hours.

2600n faded print on both left and right side.(word doc, no images) not using color black print only.

Is the cartridge an original HP or an inexpensive compatible? The black cartridge could be out of toner. Not a common defect for the Q6000A cartridge though. If it is a poor quality compatible the defect may be the result of a misaligned internal component. Either way replacing the black cartridge should resolve the issue.

There is an override sequence and it works well. Press the select button (checkmark) to indicate Main menu. Press right-arrow (RA) to select System Setup. Press Select , then RA to Print Quality, Hit select. RA to Replace supplies and hit Select. Now, RA to Override Out and Select. Confirm with Select again. Your 2600n will now run even with an empty toner cartridge.

HP Color Laserjet 2600n. Magenta color fades on both left and right side of printed page. Cartridge is factory and has 55% remaining.

This has become a common issue on these machines - due to design two laser-to-drum mirrors in the laser/scanner assembly face upwards. Because the unit is not sealed, the upward facing mirrors are a nice place for toner dust to settle.

The repair is rather easy for a trained professional - in theory anyone with the right set of instructions could perform the procedure, but I'd highly recommend a novice not try.

Instead call a trusted computer repair shop and explain the situation and that you need to have the mirrors in your laser/scanner assembly cleaned to resolve issues with faded color output. A reputable service agency with experience in HP printer repair should have no problem doing this procedure in less than an hour – so they shouldn’t charge you for more than an hour or two of bench labor. If the repair facility you contact doesn’t understand your request or tries to blame your toner cartridge; hang up and call another company.

    Grainy printing down left side

Toner cartridges have the shortest life in the laser printer. So for every image quality issue try replacing that color that you see the defects in.
