IPod Battery When I connect my iPod to my pc via usb , within 30 minutes the battery is completely discharged even when its put on with a full charged.This started about 3 months ago so I  had the battery replaced 2 months ago and the problem still  remains. I now charge with a ac charger  and I only connect to use iTunes, though sometimes I forget to eject and  then my battery is dead before I leave for work.  The iPod is a 5th gen video iPod 30 gig that I have had for 3 years.

Check to see if the Hold switch is on. It's located on the top or the bottom of iPod.
When it's in the on position, you'll see an orange patch.

To turn the hold switch off, slide it until you no longer see the orange patch.
Press any button to turn on iPod.
Make sure the battery is charged
iPod won't turn on if the battery is empty. Instead, a low battery screen appears for about 3 seconds when you try to turn it on.

Believe it or not, many people have resolved this issue just by unplugging (from the wall or the power supply, doesn't matter) the PC for 15-30 minutes. (This allows all the capacitors on the motherboard to fully discharge) If you have a laptop, unplug it and remove the battery.
If it only happens with the iPod and no other USB device, let the iPod drain down completely and plug it back in.

Other things to try: A new USB cable Uninstall ALL the USB ports from the PC via Device Manager and reboot.

* If the Apple logo appears on the display, connect the iPod to a computer and verify that it appears in iTunes and can play music. If the iPod appears in iTunes and can play music, no further troubleshooting is needed.
* If the Apple logo does not appear or the iPod is not seen in iTunes, try putting the iPod into disk mode and restoring.
6. Try putting the iPod into disk mode.
* While in disk mode, connect the iPod to iTunes and try to restore.
* If the iPod is still not recognized by iTunes, the iPod should be serviced.

your ipod touch needs to be reset....... for the best results let the battery run out not low completely discharge..... make sure you have the latest version of Itunes.... once battery is completely discharged connect to PC..... if itunes is not up just wait .... it should pop up........ go to help / and run diagnostic
