Connecting computer speaker to a receiver

I am attempting to connect a set of powered computer speakers to my denon receiver. Currently, I have an XBOX connected to the receiver through HDMI, and I am hoping I can use the computer speakers to transmit audio.

Currently the speakers are plugged into the Out portion of the receiver through RCA connected to a RCA to mini converter which is attached to the computer speaker. But no sound is coming out. How can I get this to work so I have sound from the XBOX?

I tried all three audio out options I had (DVD, VCR, Master Out). No sound comes out at all. I can plug a iPod into the speakers straight up and they work.

Currently I have the jack from the speakers (that would plug in to the iphone) connected to a mini to RCA Y cable, that plugs into the receiver. Still no sound. What should I do?

Which output section of the Denon are you using? Tape monitor out? And are you getting sound through the speakers (not the PC speakers) that are attached to the Denon speaker terminals?

Standby light stays on after blinking , stays power up but no sound

The issue you're experiencing with your Denon receiver AVR-1700 may be due to a few reasons. Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try:
  1. Check the connections: Ensure that all cables are securely connected to the receiver and the speakers. Make sure that the input source is selected correctly on the receiver, and the volume is turned up.
  2. Reset the receiver: Sometimes, resetting the receiver can resolve issues with the sound. To reset the Denon AVR-1700, turn off the power, and unplug the power cord for about 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, plug the power cord back in and turn on the power.
  3. Check the speaker settings: Ensure that the speaker settings are configured correctly on the receiver. Check that the speaker wires are connected properly to the receiver and the speakers. Make sure that the speakers are not damaged or blown.
  4. Check for firmware updates: Make sure that the receiver is running the latest firmware. Visit the Denon website to check if any firmware updates are available for your model.
  5. Check for hardware issues: If none of the above steps work, there may be a hardware issue with the receiver. In this case, you may want to contact Denon customer support or take the receiver to a professional repair shop for further assistance.
Hopefully, one of these solutions will help you resolve the issue with your Denon receiver AVR-1700.

How to connect the speakers

There are a total of 9 sets of speakers that can be connected to the unit! Refer to page 15 of the manual for detail, as I don't know whether you are connecting main, surround or auxiliary speakers. As a minimum, you would connect a single pair to the 'Front' connections. See the link to the manual.

How do I hook up my bose 901s to this unit?

Well the basic connection of the speakers would be the same as another stereo speaker pair. Wire the left and right speakers to the L/R Front Surround speakers on the Denon.

With the 901's I am assuming that there is an external equalizer supplied by Bose. Typically this EQ is installed in a tape loop on the receiver/amp so that it is ahead of the power amplifier that drives the speakers. This EQ needs to be there to attempt to get reasonable frequency response from a speaker that has only 4" drivers. I'm not sure I see any reasonable way to make the EQ work with the Denon AV receiver. You'd likely be better off using the Bose speakers in a dedicated 2-channel stereo and getting a set of speakers for the AV usage.

What's the proper way to wire 2 sets of speakers,

the center speaker is easy just wire it to the center main posts (connections are near the middle of the box) (just match up the colours)

and the powered speakers do they have their own amplifier or are they just speakers

if they have their own amplifiers then use the pre out connections near the top of the box

if they are just speakers then
wire them to the front main speaker connections near the right of the box

Denon AVR 1804

You need to get the manual and do some reading first. I couldn't find the AVR-1804 but the AVR-1803 is avaiable. It should be close enough to get you through connection and setup.

Initial Bose Speakr Hook-Up Acoust 10-Denon RCVR

Hope this may help but you will disappointed. as heard from some pro, your amp will blow up the bose cube if direct connected to them, they are powering down your output to fit their tiny speaker. My understanding was you have to hook up everything to the bose module. They don't like to play with others.

Denon AVR-1907 blinking red power button

It sounds like you have a bad speaker on the zone 2, or you have the speakers connected improperly.

When you engage the zone 2 a relay clicks and the speakers then become part of the amplifiers circuit.

If the problem was in the amplifier, it would go into protect mode without even having speakers connected to it.

If the speakers all check good, you most likely have the wrong type of speakers, meaning the impeadance is too low, or you have too many speakers connected to it.

On the back of the Denon, you will see right around the speaker output jacks, what ratings the speakers should be. If I remember correctly, it says 6 ohms or more when using only "A" or "B", and it says 12ohms or more for "A" + "B".

If you have two 8 ohm speakers on the same speaker jack you now have a 4 ohm load. That is below the ratings and can cause the amp to shut down (go into protect). Since your amp shuts down right away, I think you have a bad speaker or way too many speakers connected.

I have seen many times when people will connect 2 or 4 speakers to the one of the outputs that are designed for only 1 speakers.

If you are using too many speakers you will need a speaker distribution box. It has a resistor network built into it so the amp never sees a lower impeadance than what it is designed for.
You can connect 4, 6 or 8 speakers to one set of outputs designed for 2 speakers. You do loose a lot of power to the speakers, but it is better than blowing up your amplifier.

If I can be of any further help, let me know.

I have Harman Kardon speakers and subwoofers connected to a Denon AVr 1508 receiver. All my five speakers are working but my subwoofer doesnt work. I m pretty sure I have connected the subwoofer properly...

There is a setting under your speaker setup to turn the subwoofer on. If speakers are set to small it auto matically sets the subwoofer to ON. If the speakers are set to large it turns the subwoofer off but you can manually adjust.
