Random freezes XP 2x256 Ultra RAM. Added 2nd stick of RAM yesterday. Was just slow but now locks up for no apparent reason on a random basis. The RAM would not work at all with one stick in the DDR3 slot per the manual. Works good and is fast installed that way except now have the lock up prob since adding the other stick of 256K RAM. Also having some problems with applications not responding or just quitting in the middle of what I'm doing. ???? Get the blue screen suddenly and have to reboot as well. Boots right back up and works fine unitl the next lock up or blue screen appears. All seems to be increasing in frequency.

Thanks a bunch. I'll give those a try. I was thinking about adding another gig of RAM but want to make sure there's no problem lurking out there that would annul the effect before I do.

What's its ram

It stands for Random Access Memory and it is where temporary data is kept that your computer needs to run certain programs. It can also be a reason for a computer to run slow. You should restart your computer occasionally to clear out the RAM and keep it running more efficiently.

The laptop keeps buzzing and freezing at random times.

The problem may be with the hard drive, sub out the ram one at a time and test each time just to be sure it is not something simple, if there is no change! the hardware is suspect.

I have an Acer Z5700 that has started freezing at random times for no apparent reason. I have tried to re-install to factory state, all to no avail. I even get the blue screen at times in Safe Mode.

The blue screen should give you pointers as to what the problem is, have a look in the event viewer to see if there any recurring faults, from what you describe I would suggest either the hard drive or the ram needs replacing.

My HP compaq nx6110 windows xp sp3 hangs at boot

Take a look at this post that deals with a HP nx6110 laptop with random freeze ups. If the described symptoms also happen on your laptop. If you do experience random freezeups or slow DVD you're facing the same FSB chip problem. All peripherals, USB ports included, are connected on the Front Side Bus. Poor soldering causes intermittent contact which in turn results in hanging, slow, or totally non bootable (stuck at HP logo) laptop. Hope this helps.

Hi Guys, i have been trying to reinstall windows xp profressional on a celeron PC but when i go into the setup mode the screen displays the message as "Do u want to recover data" 'yes or no' and...

Well, seems like your windows totally crash!!
You need to reinstall it with option"No" when recovering data pop up.

You need to install it using the first boot option, insert the Windows CD, and booting using the CD first.

After enter the windows XP setup menu, make sure you format the drive for Windows installations.

Hope it works

Hi there. I have an HP a6500f. Came pre-loaded with 4GB RAM. Worked fine for a year then started freezing/restarting/BSOD randomly. Ran memory diagnostics and got a BIOME-1 error with both sticks, but...

Try manually setting the ram timings in bios but....

i would think its a motherboard issue too by the sounds of it. find one that has a similar specification and fit it, I will suggest one if you need me to, just give me a list of the hardware you have installed on this current machine

Video freezes on hp e9105z on a random and intermittent basis Nvidia gt 120 video card

Test these three things:

1 - GPU could be overheating, can you swapp your video cards with a known working card?

2 - PSU could be bad, again try swapping with known working PSU, makes sure card is recieveing proper input power.

3 - I have seen a bad ram module do this before also, but, try reseating the RAM, run memtest86 for errors

Great testing tool, HIRENS bootCD
