EMachines T5026 won't start. Start button blinks when I hold it in. The machine clicks and fans run, but the machine will not "turn over".

In my opinion you have a faulty power supply, replacing only the fan may not solve your problem. Try replacing the power supply.

There can be two problems with your PC. either the power supply is faulty which is highly probable, and the other is that your Motherboard maybe faulty or both things are faulty. Try replacing the Power supply first. It should solve your problem.

I just had the same problem. Try replacing the battery on the motherboard, that seems to have fixed mine. The number on the battery is CR 2032.

check the fans on inside of the computer. they may be all gummed up with dust and lint. clean carefully and try and turn it on again. also watch the fans and see if you can tell where the bad sound is coming from, if the CPU fan is clogged up the CPU will over heat as its turning on and shut down.. if the raunchy sound is coming out of the power supply then that may be bad. sounds as if it might be.

First use the following steps:

Turn off the system and disconnect power cables
Press and hold the power button for 10-15 seconds.
Reconnect power cables and try to turn it on.

If it remains same, the next step will be to:
Turn off the system and disconnect power cables
Open the case and re-seat memory modules


If you have more than one modules installed, try to test the system with a single module at a time.

This just happened to my t5026. I had to replace the power supply to fix.

I think it may be the power supply

I would test the memory. Also I think some computers will shut down if the fan on top of the CPU quits working. Or maybe one of the other fans or the Hard Drive quit and is drawing too much juice causing the PSU to shut down. It sounds like something may be grounding.
