Hope you can do this at home, try to open your remote control, remove all screws, your need thiner, liquid solution, and cotton wool, drop some thiner on cotton wool and wipe it on board, near volume track, and wipe it very gently, make sure not to overflow the cottonwool with thiner, now after doing this close the remote control, and check if it does work. remote controls are very rare in repiars, this is basic way to make it work, hope it work, if not then try to get the second hand 1...wish you best in this process

Sometimes you need to go into the menu page for the device that doesn't work and you need to "learn" the keys to the new remote. "Learn" meaning pressing the buttons on your original remote with the Infrared part of the remote facing the Infrared part of the new remote. This will help the Harmony remote duplicate the signal to the device you want to operate.

this sounds like it is a hardware issue, try contacting Logitech through e-mail from the website www.logitech.com and sending an e-mail in.
try the following before contacting them:
1. Log into the Logitech Harmony Remote Software on your computer
2. Click on the Downloads button at the top-right corner of your screen
3. Click on the Firmware button. Follow the onscreen instructions to upgrade the firmware on your Harmony remote
4. Once the firmware upgrade is complete, click on the Update Remote button
5. Test your remote.
If this doesnt work, provide them with the following to make sure the process goes as smooth as possible:
The PID of the remote:
The P/N of the remote:
The PID of the RF Wireless Extender:
The P/N of the RF Wireless Extender:
Full Name:
Phone number:
Street:
City/Town:
Country:
Zip/Postal Code:
Please Note: The PID (Product Identification) and P/N (Part Number) for the remote can be found either on the underside of the battery cover, or at the bottom of the battery compartment (the battery might be covering it). Your PID number is a character code with a combination of letters and numbers, starting with either WL, WD, or LZ

Hey!
I had this same issue and Logitech gave me the troubleshooting steps below that got it working again!!!
1) Remove the battery from the Harmony Remote for 10 seconds and reinsert it. If this does not resolve the issue, please continue troubleshooting.
2) Ensure you have the latest version of the Harmony Remote Software (7.7).
3) Update the firmware on the Harmony Remote. The following link shows how to complete this task:
http://logitech-en-amr.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/logitech_en_amr.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=10747
4) Try putting the Harmony Remote in safe mode and complete the firmware update again. The following are the steps to accomplish this:
a) Remove the battery from the Harmony Remote.
b) Press and hold the power button while reinserting the battery into the Harmony Remote.
c) To get out of safe mode, remove the battery for 10 seconds and reinsert it into the Harmony Remote.
I hope this helps!!!

There seems to be an issue with the Harmony 880/890 where, after a time, certain buttons that are used more often become unresponsive (though 4 years is not a bad run!) They either need to be pressed very firmly (and sometimes held down for a few seconds), or they stop working entirely. This is probably due to the wearing out of the metallic bubble button that is beneath the film adhesive of the circuit board. If this has happened, the repair can be tricky. In most cases if only one or two buttons are the problem, you may want to try the 're-mapping' strategy as described below. Remember, the beauty of this remote is that you can create 'soft' keys using the LCD screen and re-map almost any key you like. Here is a link to a good post on the Logitech forum which describes how to test the buttons and re-map them. Good Luck!
