I have the Aspire 5100 Lap Top with the Vista OS. It will not recognize ANY USB memmory devices. I took it back over the summer and received a new one....same problem. The memmory device will show up in device manager but I cannot access it...Please help!!!
If Acer screwed up fixing your problem the first time (and it's evident that they did) they are obligated to fix it a second time, and if they cant, they are obligated to replace your laptop.
By the way, Acer unloaded a bunch of laptops cheap with Vista loaded, and sometimes only 512 MB memory--and some even with and M-chip, not dual core. If that is your case, you will have one headache after another, because to run properly, Vista requires at least 1 GB memory, and many people think 2 is necessary. DONT buy more memory from Acer if you need it--they'll rip you off. Their morality is less than desirable.

My Acer Aspire 4315 recognized my flash drive the first time I put it in (I was transferring some files from the old laptop) but won't recognize it any more. I don't think the files are damaged because the old laptop (with good old XP) still recognizes it.
the usb ports will not recognize the devices that i plug into it
and i keep getting the same message from my pc unknown device keeps showing up
