My Acer Aspire 4315 recognized my flash drive the first time I put it in (I was transferring some files from the old laptop) but won't recognize it any more. I don't think the files are damaged because the old laptop (with good old XP) still recognizes it.

If Acer screwed up fixing your problem the first time (and it's evident that they did) they are obligated to fix it a second time, and if they cant, they are obligated to replace your laptop.

By the way, Acer unloaded a bunch of laptops cheap with Vista loaded, and sometimes only 512 MB memory--and some even with and M-chip, not dual core. If that is your case, you will have one headache after another, because to run properly, Vista requires at least 1 GB memory, and many people think 2 is necessary. DONT buy more memory from Acer if you need it--they'll rip you off. Their morality is less than desirable.

I bought a 4 gig SanDisk Adapter micro SD, micro SDHC. my Acer Aspire will not recognize the card, i've tried the switch both ways multiple times. how can i get my PC to recognize the card?

My reader will not read mine either. I use a usb key card reader. It used to read the regular old SD cards but the new HC card format wont work. This is due to UDF differences. You can try to reformat the card but then your camera or device may not recognize it anymore. good luck

Acer aspire 5100 BL51 windows 7 wireless driver

You will have to navigate this site; enter 'notebook', 'Aspire', and scroll to 5100; after that, you will have to choose 32 bit or 64 bit. That being said, Acer does not support Windows 7 yet-you can try the Vista drivers; more often than not they will work. One note-I cannot tell just from the info you supplied whether you have the Atheros or Broadcom chip-You should be able to determine that in Device Manager.

USB ports will not recognize any devices.

Hi Brian

You have not mentioned the make of your laptop and what OS you are running on, however a common solution to this problem would be as follows:

1) Try doing a clean installation of the OS and check if it is detecting USB devices or not

2) Try finding a BIOS update for your laptop from manufacturer website and update the laptop BIOS

3) If the above steps do not work probably the USB controller integrated to motherboard would not be working, suggest sending it to the customer support of laptop manufacturer to get the motherboard replaced.

Acer 5100

Is the keyboard on the laptop working? Also Does it recognize when you are plugging in the usb device? Go to your device manager and see if there are any exclamation points. Its possible a driver is corrupt or not installed.
Thanks,

Reboot the computer.

USB ports wont recognize anything I plug in

Are you using XP? If so:
Here is what you can do to refresh the USB ports:
1. Right click MY COMPUTER
2. Select PROPERTIES
3. Select HARDWARE
4. Select DEVICE MANAGER
5. Select UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS CONTROLLERS
6. Right click on each USB CONTROLLER and select Uninstall
7. Uninstall all entries
8. Reboot your computer
9. As your computer re-boots it will reinstall all USB connections it detects
THEN, when all other USB items have been configured and connected by the system, you then should try connecting your USB device.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Vista won't recognize usb flash drives

Did you format the flash drive?. Try it in another machine and just right click on format. I had a similar problem and that worked for me. If you have an xp machine available, use that one. Also you can create another account and establish the admin rights, then delete the current one if you don't want to have to click on which acct to use on startup, the password should be removable in safe mode, from the conrtol panel, under user accts.
