Hello, I had the same problem and resolved it using the following program, which you can download from softonic ( is free ) :

http://pc-inspector-smart-recovery.softonic.com/

Is easy to use, you connect your card to de pc (with a pc reader or the camera ), select the card's folder, the file type (jpg) and destination folder for recovering the pictures and finally press init. After that the program will detect that the card is broken and will ask you to do an intensive inspection, answer yes and you'll begin to see your pictures into the destination folder. The process take a time, but is satisfactory.

There is more programs to do his as "card recovery", but no free

... Last post was for recovering the pictures, the next one will be to format the card and recovering it. I will post that when I do.

Well to finish, I managed to format my card using the options of the camera, I am afraid but if you do not manage to should buy it another card. If before want to assure you that what fails is the card and not the camera, can test to read the card since a reader of cards in place that since the camera of photos.

"Card Error"

The card may have its lock turned on. Please check that the small lever on the card is not in the 'LOCK' or 'PROTECT' position.  The contacts on the card may be dirty. Please clean them with a clean dry cloth.

I need help. I have Fujifilm xd-Picture card M1 GB for my Olympus stylus camera. I have pictures stored in them already and when I tried to download the pictures, it took a very long time to read the...

Sounds as if somehow the memory card is corrupted. In order to retrieve the images you would need to run some type of image recovery software. You can try a program called zero assumption recovery which will allow you to try and retrieve the images.

www.z-a-recovery.com

Then try to format the card after the images are recovered. If still gives card error the card is damaged and needs to be replaced.
