Sound on my philips 32pw6515/05 not working

Hi, The sound on my philips 32pw6515/05 32'' tv isnt working properly.
Sometimes the sound comes on for a few minutes and then goes off, sometimes it sounds like its underwater with the full sound coming on and off now and again.
Any one know what it might be?

if the jack out side works okay, that indicates that the pre amp is fine. the sound on the pre amp is tapped before the main amplifier.
check the main amplifier ic in side if it is getting hot.
