SOURCE: memory card cannot be used

Follow these steps: 1. If you have a SD card reader, insert the SD card and look for it in Windows Explorer. In this case, mine was labeled F: 2. Right Click on the drive for the Card Reader (IMPORTANT) and choose FORMAT. 3. Format card with default settings. 4. Turn Camera on and go to MENU> FORMAT CARD 5. Before answering the next question, insert SD card into camera. You will hear it beep twice. 6. Choose FORMAT and the card should be formatted for use on the camera. Cheers!

I'm sorry but you can't use the camera as a webcam. Here is why. There is no function on the camera to stream video.
Also, the camera goes into standby mode after 30 seconds (by default). And 3 minutes after that, it shuts off completely. It does that to save batteries. Again. I'm sorry. Good webcams average between $20. to $50. usd and they are made to work 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

You can use a 4GB memory card in your camera, as long as it's an SD card.

If you get that message, it means you haven't formatted the card for use in that camera. You have to format the card in the camera before you use it.

Even though the solution was not what you prpbably wanted, don't let it stop you from rating it a fixya. I would appreciate it. Let me know if I can help you with anything else, and thanks for coming to FixYa.

SOURCE: How to transfer Nikon Coolpix camera pictures to memory card?

Make sure you have an SD memory card inserted and your camera is on. Press the Play button to view your images. Now press menu and scroll down to the copy feature. You have two options, copy from camera to memory card is on top, and from memory card to camera is on the bottom.  Once you select your option, choose your pictures and copy.

Regards,
Lardzor.

SOURCE: Nikon coolpix 4600: How to transfer pictures from camera to card?

ok I figured out how to do it! put the memory card into the camera, then go to view the pictures. Then press the menu button and scroll until you see the copy button. Then you will see the option to copy from camera to card, or card to camera. Press the option to copy from camera to card and press select all....(or whichever pictures you want copied...I wanted all pictures copied). Then voila! it takes a few seconds to copy from the camera to the card, and there you have it! :)

My nikon coolpix p2 camera says this memory card cannot be used, but it is a new memory card.

Have you formatted the memory card? When you buy a new memory card, you must go in your camera's menu and find the "format memory" selection and perform the format function. Once formatted by your camera, it should work.

Sounds like you have the wrong type memory card for the camera, check user manual and make sure you have bought the right type and capacity card.

New 4GB CF card for E5400, camera gives 'out of memory' message

So far as I am aware, the 5400 will support only up to 2GB cards. As to the firmware upgrade you mention, I don't recall that that has any bearing on the max. card capacity; but it's worth doing for the RAW format support (for me, at least). Cheers and good shooting. Davo, Tas.

Trying out new 4G SanDisk cf memory drives in Nikon Coolpix 5700

Not sure if this helps, but it worked for me on a Coolpix 5000.
I tried a 4Gb card, and the camera formatted it and reported out-of-memory. The problem seams to be that that max 2Gb is supported

What I did was partitioned the card into 2 sections with 2Gb on each. I then formated them to FA16.
This worked - but you can only use half of the card (i.e. 2Gb)

For the tools I used a Linux laptop with CF reader. The tools are build in here (fdisk and mkdosfat). I don't know how to do it on windows.

Nikon digital camera malfunction

Hey jackie jean,
If the two year extended warranty you are talking about is a performance service plan purchased at a Best Buy™ store then you could bring the camera into a Geek Squad® precinct in a Best Buy™ store, and they should be able to send it out for service at no charge to you. I am assuming you formatted the memory card in the camera, but if this is not the case and you have formatted the memory card using your computer then I would suggest formatting the memory card in the camera. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan
