My laptop does not recognize my verbatim store-n-go 8gb flash drive. Is this fixable?

Click start control panel administrative tools computer management device manager scroll down universal serial bus controllers you could see a yellow question / exclamation mark? ! or a red X

you will need to update/reinstall drivers

right click to reinstall drivers


if you can see your usb drive but its not working

ports (com&lpt) right click update driver if this fails to fix the problem


check the USB leads that attach to the motherboard usually red white green black make sure they are securely seated and have no dust build up on them dust will cause static and a lot of unforeseen problems for a computer and its parts

Go to Control Panel, then to System Mgr and then Devices. Check to see if all are marked with +s. You probably have a - in that area. Click on the minus and see what it says. You may need to add a driver or reinistall the flash drive.

Verbatim store n go usb flash drive 8 gb device not recognized

My Verbatim Sto N Go 8GB USB Flash Drive does not work in any port, in any computer. When I plug it in, the "Device is not recognized" error comes up. When I click on it, and the Unknown Device Properties comes up, the device status reads: "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)

To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer."



The driver details read:
Provider: Advanced Micro Devices
File Version: 1.0.11.82 built by: WinDDK
Digital Signer: Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility


This is the 2nd drive of this same brand that quit working within 6 months. I have MONTHS of work on files in this drive, and would hate to have to redo all that work! I was real careful after the first one went bad to use the eject button when removing it from my computer. But I am thinking the last time I clicked the eject button, it froze, so I just pulled it out without the message coming up. Hopefully there is someway to get the computer to recognize this drive again???

How do you unlock a verbatim 4 g pinstripe usb drive

right click on the drive and click format or re-format, this should erase everything on it and unlock it, but does not always work!

Verbatim 8GB Store-an-go just went dead between uses. Computer does not even register a drive. Is this a loose connection.

have you tried it on another computer? There really are not connectors to get "loose" but unfortunately sometimes the drives do die. I would try is on another computer (windows XP or newer)
If it does not show up on another computer than chalk it up to experience. There are restoration services but they are very pricey. If you pursue this expect to pay $300.00 plus for recovery.

8mb vs 8gb of space on an 8gb flash drive

sounds like you upgraded it to a dynamic volume and are using the leftover space, flash drives should be left as basic disks and formatted fat 32.
