The reason is that your TV doesn't support the pip function it may be on the remote but check the manual look for the picture of the remote and it should tell you what buttons work or not
The solution is simple. It is a single tuner for PIP, only two sets can be run just not off the same tuner. TV/ AV1/ AV2, COMPONENT 1/ COMPONENT 2/ RGB, HDMI1/ HDMI2.
You can mix the signals ie: tv and compnent 1 or tv and hdmi1.
Not tv and av1as they utilize the same tuner.
Hope it helps.
Let me know what you find out, I have a similar problem. I can get the PIP screen to come up but it will not allow me to have it on an input that actually shows a picture - just blue screen.

I have the same problem as Estevo. I have a new Vizio 32 in HDLCD but cannot get the PIP to work. I can access is but only receive a blue screen. When I choose PIP input it does not allow the option to choose TV. Placing an "x" next to the TV selection as if unavailable.
