PIP I have a new Vizio and I cannot get Pip to work

You do not give your exact model number so I couldn't look at the specific manual/users guide. I did look at one of the e-series guides and there was no mention of PIP (I presumed Picture in Picture and searched for several variations with no success). However if you go to the web page below, you will be able to find your exact model and then download the precise user guide and check it for PIP.

It sounds like you might be in the PIP mode. check your remote for the PIP (Picture in Picture) and go hit it several times the picture should move around on the screen one of them should be the OFF.

PIP or picture in picture works in two ways with the original remote--new sets with this actually have two tuners in them, one for main picture and one for PIP picture, you can change channels in both, swap the PIP to the main picture or even have both side by side.

Sure its got the PIP? what is brand and model number ?

pip works mostly if you have cable tv the tv needs to use its tuner to display two channels.

I used 0178 to program my universal remote. You can also try 10056, 10178,10864,10885,11756,10056,11758, and 11499. Then you can try by dropping the "1" from the front of these codes.
Most good remotes have a programming function if this does not work, where the remote will "learn" the proper code.

You have to be in 'TV' mode to access the parental settings option. Not sure why. When it asks for the code it's 0000

Some models of the TV have PIP as an option, but not installed, and to make it cheaper, they use the same remote and menus, just disable the option, as it's not supported. Best to check the Manufacturer's website to make sure that it does do PIP, not that a related model which has the same user manual does PIP.

Can you use a splitter somehow to make the cable be two inputs? That is all I can think of.

You have to go into the "Parental" settings and change the "Rating Enable" setting to off. Default password is 0000. The PIP will not work if your second source is fed into one of the AV inputs. It must be a composite or digital input. You should see the PIP menus once you change the Parental setting even if there is no other source turned on. This info is not in the book - had to call tech support.

look in your owner's manual and you will see a list of input that can work with each other and ones that can't. If you don't have your service manual, you can go to vizio.com and get it there.
